King Crimson – Three Of A Perfect Pair

In reference to variant 1. Both the HDCD and the redbook components have merit. The HDCD is weightier and thick, the redbook is more open but the low end has been rolled of and it has less sparkle. Neither even comes close to this edition, King Crimson - Three Of A Perfect Pair.

The Completion of the trilogy started by "Discipline" a very good outing with some superb KC songsmanship. It all starts with 3 amazing songs laying down about amazing, highly technical beats.

We would have to wait another decade until we heard from this superlative line-up again.

I fell in love with this album when it came out. I originally bought it on CD and played it until the songs were like muscle memory. I saw Beat in 2024 play this live and remembered how much I loved these songs. That show inspired me to set up the turntable and start playing vinyl again. This reissue was my first new vinyl record in many years. All I can say is wow....what a great pressing. If you are not familiar with this band, buy this record. It's a good intro to King Crimson and the incredible musicians that orbit around them.

Sonically spectacular, with a wide, deep soundstage and thundering dynamics. Zero surface noise, too.

This really beat all my expectations. Dead quiet, great mixing and dynamics. For a pretty cheap album this is top tier.

No problem at all on my system, but my copy doesn't came with the insert/lyrics, anyone faced the same problem?

Picked this one up at a show recently and it has Side 1 label on both sides ... Anybody else?

Sound quality on this is nice—I like the Wilson mix which exhibits its greatness especially on side B. To me this sounds nicer than the SW Discipline mix. A bit more weight here.

Steven Wilson does that characteristic thing of his which is to bring up the bass while preserving and extending space. This sounds terrific, better then the original. It's especially noticeable on Sleepless (aka KC's only dance hit): the complex rhythm section is much easier to parse, and this song is propulsive as all hell, held down by Bruford doing a proto-house beat. Marvellous!
