Syd Barrett – The Madcap Laughs

This is a swapped version with original cover, but vinyl from this Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs / Barrett compilation of the first two Syd Barrett albums.

Personally, I think this sounds great. Monumental album, emphasis on Mental.

The earliest copies of this(1G/1G) have ‘Syd Barrett’ printed lower on both sides of the label…this copy shows it higher on side 2

I have a version of this copy with “Made in France by Pathé Marconi EMI” under the Harvest logo on the labels. Everything else corresponding.
Otherwise this copy sounding quite good as often the French press of Pink Floyd and affiliates of these years.
I’ve had French press of Pink Floyd that sounds almost as good as UK press, I guess this one should be the same.

My copy is crystal clear and superb acoustics, no vinyl noise. I recommend this release.

I’ve nothing to compare this to but it certainly sounds like a nice pressing, unlike some digital to vinyl reissues which are completely thin and lifeless.
Virtually no surface noise and has nice depth to it.
Sympathetic treatment of a must have album if (like me) you are a fan of early Pink Floyd.
Recommended.

Pressed by Pallas Germany. I expected perfection. Sound is flawless. Zero noise of any kind. Excellent pressing. The disc is very heavy.

The 4th version according to pinkfloydarchives has a sleeve printed by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd, and they don't mention that specific company inner sleeve.
I am inclined to go with pinkfloydarchives since I have an exact match to what is described by them, though of cause I cannot list mine for sale here since it does not exactly match discogs description.

Sounds incredible. It is far superior to later presses in terms of texture and dynamics, as well as having a good amount of information that is inaudible on later versions. If you are a fan of Syd, this is the holy grail.
