Terrible sounding pressing. As others have mentioned, it’s mastered poorly, needs to be turned up loud, and has tons of surface noise.

Even after a good cleaning, during quiet parts of songs pops and clicks were very audible. Super disappointing.

Bought this as a gamble seeing the reviews here. But I know discogs reviews can be hit and miss at the best of times.

First off the record was surprisingly spotless and came in a black poly lined sleeve. No imperfections anywhere…very clean. Jacket looks okay, standard EU card stock. Without having an original side by side, I don’t think it looks bad at all.

Onto the sound…I think a lot will depend on your setup and the level of gain you have. Also it will help if you have a half decent phono pre-amp in reducing noise floor. Remember though that increasing volume only reduces attenuation so if you have a lesser powered amp, just adjust to normal listening volume but remember that it will just be much higher on the dial. But you will need to crank this.

When you do turn it up to your normal listening level…it sounds pretty good to me. Not the best, but maybe a 7/10 rating here. It actually has some decent bass and I think a lot of what you are hearing is also in the production. As mentioned, my pressing was flawless visually and it played really quietly with little surface noise. All in all, I’m pleased seen as I held off for so long.

No doubt you could get more from spreading it out and restore a more average loudness to the cut. It might also open it up a bit more…though I feel a lot is in the sound recording. When cranked though, I don’t feel it is bad at all!

System: Michell Orbe we/Rega RB2000, AT ART9XA, avid pulsus, Spendor d7.2, Krell kav400xi, Nordost cables.

Mastered very well, but cut much too quiet in order to be squeezed on 1 LP. Better make sure you have a loud-ass system to push this one (I have to crank my Onkya 2ch receiver all the way up)

I have had this album on CD since it was new back in the 90s, and finally picked it up this vinyl release. I suspect it's due to the length of the album being shoehorned into one record, but I find the sound very lacking. It does not have room to breathe, sounds very compressed, and is a pretty noisy pressing. Granted, the source material is very bass-heavy which was always the point. The source material seems like it was born to be on vinyl, but a proper pressing would be across 2 LPs (or at least 1.5 with one of those etchings on side 4). I doubt this will ever be revisited, but don't get your hopes up for this release.

Just picked this up and noticed that my copy has a different etching on the runout for Side A, RI-61571-A-RE 10/21 ful. Stamped MADE WELL MUSIC

the side B runout matches this variant (RI-61571-B RE 7/20 dp#1). Sounds like maybe a recent update was made? Different pressing for side A? Very quiet like others have said but I get that is a limitation of having this music music on 1 LP.

Not sure if I received a busted copy or not, but this is probably one of the most noisest records in my collection. At first, I thought it was dirt but after three cleanings back to back this record still has the same amount of surface noise as it did the day I opened it. Very disappointing because the other reissues from Kyuss straight out of the packaging had virtually no noise. It drives me nuts because it practically overpowers the guitars on Gardenia and Asteroid.

Edit 8/28/22: I got a new copy this one is significantly quieter, but not silent. In fact, this copy has a huge gouge in Asteroid that somehow makes it pop in just one channel and then the other. Cleaning the record did nothing. Very disappointed with this release, I don't mind there being some noise when playing certain records, like colored vinyl and picture discs, but some releases just need to be silent, especially on standard reissues like these.

I have 2 copies of this version, and as many have pointed out before: the sound quality isn't great. But still nice to have a 90s piece of vinyl of this great band

This is a long album for a single disc release. True. That said, it does sound really good. My copy has no surface noise at all. Very flat pressing, no warp in any sense. I’m very happy with this rerelease. People on here saying you have to turn it up to counter the quietness of the pressing, well, it is Kyuss. This album begs to be cranked up regardless of it being a single or double vinyl release.

pretty good pressing. as others mentioned, its quiet, which is remedied by turning up the volume, but that does mean you really hear any and all of the surface noise. however, once the music kicks in, its a non-problem. vinyl is thick and sounds pretty good, with plenty of bass. the sound is a little muddy, but the album’s supposed to sound like that.

packaging is nice, the cover is high quality, and the vinyl comes in a plastic-lined paper sleeve. I would highly recommend this release, as all pressing suffer from the noise issue, as its a 50 minute album on one lp.

                      5/5

Ya hit the loud button on yer amp and you crank it up some more. After a near 30 year wait I'm not going to complain
