Pharoah Sanders – Jewels Of Thought

They truly don’t make em like they used to! Record visually looks trashed but plays like a dream. Glossy cover is absolutely gorgeous and the music is life changing!!!

Not the worst thing I've ever heard. Not the best, either. In lack of a better reissue, this will suffice. Pharoah Sanders deserves better.

Pressing quality is good, quiet record but it dosnt compete with an original pressing which has a much clearer sound and wider soundstage.

Agree with the quality of the pressing: wide soundstage, rich sound.

Sound is distorded. To be honnest I don't recommend this reissue.

Anyone who has it - how does it sounds? If it's another digital sourced release, then the sound should be slightly overloaded and distorted (like in Qobuz version). And how is the pressing quiality? Thanks in advance!

So, certainly digitally sourced - same slightly overloaded sound in some places as in Qobuz version. But acceptable overall.
Good enough packaging - gatefold with great print quality. The surface is quiet, which is nice. For lack of a better one - Audio Clarity, thanks for the vinyl version.

I have this pressing and I think it sounds pretty good. Required a cleaning right out of the sleeve, but then again I don't think this was supposedly a limited audiophile pressing anyway. Not hearing any inner groove distortion even though side one is fairly long... Sounds like they knew what they were doing when they mastered it. As a side note I always wonder what the marketing idea behind these releases is? They seem to put out just enough copies and then those vanish into the mists of time and become collectibles... Some of them get repressed and some don't... Seems like they've been doing this with the Alice Coltrane releases... Now you see them now you don't and then they pop up again repressed. With Pharaoh it seems like there's just slightly more people that want his music in a physical form then they seem to be willing to put out LOL. I've been trying to score that India Navigation LP for years now whether it's bootleg or not... Can't even get it on CD! Anyway this is definitely a solid release and a solid sounding slab of vinyl.

Why is this listed as a "club edition"? There is nothing on the release in the photos to show it as a club release. ABC is the owner of Impulse!, it is not the name of a record club producer. Also the description says it has red impulse labels, but the photos show original Impulse! orange labels. Seems to be lots of confusion by whoever created this release page

Lovely sounding pressing- rich and warm with a wide range. The music is wonderful as well of course. Hum-Allah-Hum-Allah-Hum-Allah is a catchy vocal track with an ecstatic solo finale, while Sun In Aquarius is a deep spiritual jazz odyssey with more free elements
