The Sonics – Here Are The Sonics!!!

Is there any difference between this mono release and the first one listed on discogs? The only thing I see is the placement of the catalog number at the top VS bottom.

While the cover may look sketchy, this album was part of an official box set, released in 1980. In fact, this one uses the original stereo plates, pressed at Monarch. The dead wax matches the OG '65 stereo press.
This edition can be had for a fraction of the cost of the originals and even the '84 reissues.

It's Dope! Hits hard as hell, especially for a record from 1965.

Quality control is lacking with this repressing. Big Beat Records, AKA "Ace Records," did a faithful reproduction of the cover and the label. Visually it all looks the same as my 3 original 1965 copies. However, the quality of the pressing of the vinyl has issues. There was extra vinyl "stringy" trimmings on the outer edge that had to be removed. The pressing is off-center. Looking down on the record, you can see the tone arm swaying side-to-side. On side One, the stylus does not travel into the dead wax at the end of the recording. instead it repeats the last verse of the song over and over. On side Two, there are pops and clicks in track 3 & 4. Then at the end of track 4 was a skip that caused a repeat of the verse. At that point I had to stop the record and write this review.

I bought this vinyl (FC017 reissue.) a long time ago and listened to it again today... Something shocks me, apart from the 1st track "the witch" on all the others the vocals are completely undermixed to the point that we think we are listening to instrumental versions… is this the original mix? (I guess so, I'm not a Sonics expert at all.)

Sounds fuzzy! Very full and groovy! I noticed parts of drumming sound clearer than the MP3s I had been listening to.

I was a bit concerned about the comments made by the reviewers here. I must however agree that this is how a record made those days sound. It’s raw and loud. I totally enjoyed it. Generally I love the songs on this LP. Bought this at MYR. 120. It’s like USD25. Totally worth it. It’s mono. Listen with mono cartridge.

This pressing is very flat and a bit boring, but maybe this band supposed to sound this way. I recognize the 'overdriven' sound, for instance on Roll over Beethoven. Here, the vocals are much too upfront in the mix. The instruments are buried in the mix. This could have be remastered so much better.
My copy is dead silent, no surface noise like others have reported. No clicks and pops neither.
