The Rolling Stones ‎– Some Girls

Genre:
Style:
Year:
Notes:
The cover of the original album was a die cut with peep-holes so you could see the faces of members of Rolling Stones and female celebrities pictured on the innersleeve. Shortly after release the cover was withdrawn due to legal issues and a new designed innersleeve without the celebrity faces was launched. Even later releases were made without peep-holes and with hand-drawn sketches on the cover.

At least there are 15 known variations of cover/innersleeve so beware to list your LP correctly.

Below are some issues you should consider:

a) check catalogue #
b) check country
Even if catalogue # and country match your album there are other parameters to consider:

c) Is your innersleeve uncensored? (with celebrity faces)
d) Or is the innersleeve censored? ('Pardon our appearance.... under construction')
e) Or is the LP without peep-holes?

The uncensored and censored versions were released with different variations of the colour-band on the cover.
1) Green-Yellow-Blue-Red (bright colours)
2) Yellow-Blue-Red-Green (bright colours)
3) Blue-Red-Green-Yellow (bright colours)
4) Red- Green-Yellow-Blue (bright colours)
5) Yellowish-Bluish-Reddish-Greenish (pale colours) ('Some Girls' title typed in red)
6) Reddish-Greenish-Yellowish-Bluish (pale colours) ('Some Girls' title typed in blue)

Some later releases were made without peep-holes.
There are 2 known versions with hand-drawn sketches and with these colour bands:
7) Green-Yellow-Blue-Red (bright colours)
8) Yellowish-Bluish-Reddish-Greenish (pale colours)

Furthermore, a 180 gram release without peep-holes and with a photocopied cover of a censored version has been released The Rolling Stones - Some Girls.

This may be a fabricated mongrel. MFSL jacket with "uncensored" inner sleeve from an original release.

NOT ALL will have a timed strip across the bottom. As a music columnist at the time, I received a promo copy from the label that simply had a hole punched in the upper left hand corner.

Note that the Canadian version isn't like the US copies of the 8-track with different versions of some songs. No, the Canadian copy uses the regular album master with no special versions, and has some blank spaces on a couple of programs to preserve running order.

"Some Girls" is listed in red on front sleeve, matches all other pressing ID's.

I have to laugh on occasion. People pay stupid money for a digital pressing on colored vinyl. Instead they could pay far less for an original analog pressing from, say, the Netherlands on orange vinyl. I just don't get it. One is highly overpriced and one is highly underpriced. You figure out which is which.

Even though this is quite a pop/disco influenced Stones album, it's still very, very good!

Well after an exhaustive search I cannot find my copy on here. Seems to happen a lot with older records. My lp has all the faces, CCC etched in the A side groove and GGG in the B side groove. Additionally, there’s an insert with lyrics. It’s on RSR and it’s a US copy. Has anyone seen this version? Thanks in advance for any help

I was just noticing those color 2011 LP's and all the 2011 stuff and I'm thinking... Couldn't they put out a LP for disc 2 from the box set. Do the songs suck that bad. Honestly I can't stand digital much longer. My ears go back and forth from LP to CD my brain doesn't know what it wants. But the CD might be remixed from the 24 track but the one thing that I noticed that even digital now a days lacks is that lushness that vinyl has and any CD doesn't... It's like ok I have to bare these 12 bonus tracks on CD cause they won't put a 2 LP set with all these songs. But they put out 5 different color LP's.... I"M SICK OF COLORED VINYL AND NEVER SOUNDS GOOD. WHO CARES HOW NEAT IT LOOKS. SAVE THAT FOR A DISNEY RECORD.

It amazes me people will pay crazy money for a digital remaster on colored vinyl. If you want a colored pressing, look for the original 1978 orange Netherlands pressing. Analog, great sound, and you probably will get it cheaper than these colored "remasters". Common sense sometimes isn't very common.
