Notes
Some Girls is the fourteenth UK and sixteenth US studio album
by the English rock band The Rolling Stones,
recorded 10 October 1977 – 2 March 1978 and
released on 9 June 1978 by Rolling Stones Records.
Performed by:
Mick Jagger – lead vocals (all but 8), backing vocals (1–3, 6, 8–10), electric guitar (1–5, 7), piano (6), percussion (10)
Keith Richards – electric guitar (all tracks), backing vocals (1–3, 6, 8–10), acoustic guitar (4, 6, 8, 9), bass guitar (4, 8), piano (6), lead vocals (8)
Charlie Watts – drums (all tracks)
Ron Wood – electric guitar (all but 6), backing vocals (1–3, 6, 8, 10), pedal steel (2, 6, 10), acoustic guitar (4, 9), bass guitar (10), bass drum (10)
Bill Wyman – bass guitar (1–3, 5–7, 9), synthesiser (4)
It was the first album to feature guitarist Ron Wood as a full-time member; Wood had contributed to some tracks on the band's prior two albums, It's Only Rock 'N Roll (1974) and Black And Blue (1976).
The cover of the original album was a die cut with peep-holes so you could see the faces of members of Rolling Stones and female celebrities pictured on the innersleeve. Shortly after release the cover was withdrawn due to legal issues and a new designed innersleeve without the celebrity faces was launched. Even later releases were made without peep-holes and with hand-drawn sketches on the cover.
At least there are 15 known variations of cover/innersleeve so beware to list your LP correctly.
Below are some issues you should consider:
a) check catalogue #
b) check country
Even if catalogue # and country match your album there are other parameters to consider:
c) Is your innersleeve uncensored? (with celebrity faces)
d) Or is the innersleeve censored? ('Pardon our appearance.... under construction')
e) Or is the LP without peep-holes?
The uncensored and censored versions were released with different variations of the colour-band on the cover.
1) Green-Yellow-Blue-Red (bright colours)
2) Yellow-Blue-Red-Green (bright colours)
3) Blue-Red-Green-Yellow (bright colours)
4) Red- Green-Yellow-Blue (bright colours)
5) Yellowish-Bluish-Reddish-Greenish (pale colours) ('Some Girls' title typed in red)
6) Reddish-Greenish-Yellowish-Bluish (pale colours) ('Some Girls' title typed in blue)
Some later releases were made without peep-holes.
There are 2 known versions with hand-drawn sketches and with these colour bands:
7) Green-Yellow-Blue-Red (bright colours)
8) Yellowish-Bluish-Reddish-Greenish (pale colours)
Furthermore, a 180 gram release without peep-holes and with a photocopied cover of a censored version has been released Some Girls.

Excellent pressing. Just goes to show you that there are Japanese pressings out there are real gems. This of course uses the US mastering but also in comparison to my other late 80s US press this absolutely blows it away. The US pressing I have actually has way more treble and the drums are fatiguing and distracting. I don’t have an original US to compare to but since they are the same mastering can’t imagine it’d be this. This is my go to for my favorite stones albumreferencing Some Girls (LP, Album) 7C 064-61016
Great Stones album from 1978, and this Sweedish pressing sounds great too.referencing Some Girls (LP, Album, Reissue) FC 40449
I have a promo copy of this CBS reissue (1986) which sounds great and in the league of my 1978 US Monarch 1st. Might even say it sounds clearer than the Monarch if not as much punch but not deficient in punch either. Not the best recorded album so this is a welcome find even if it doesn’t have the panache of the 1978 1st with the original sleeve. Worth buying for as cheap as you can find these. I paid $15 for this promo.- Great sound mostly! Better than the Sticky Fingers reissue I have from this same series, just a bit of distortion at the end of Side A but nothing that ruins it. Definitely not a bad choice for this album
- Edited one month agoJust purchased this from Amazon and my copy is flawless- French pressing as noted by the sticker. Perhaps they farmed it out to RI or something? Just speculation. If MPO pressed this, things have changed greatly for the better.
Anyway, about the record, I know it’s DSD to LP, but it sounds great! Decent soundstage, dead quiet and great music. What’s not to like? referencing Some Girls (LP, Album) ESS-81050
Great mastering on this first japan pressing . Well balanced sound and controlled bass . Bought it together with the obi at a good price . Printing quality is bright . Recommended for getting this uncensored peep-hole cover version or the US https://www.discogs.com/release/741542-The-Rolling-Stones-Some-Girls- Edited 3 months ago

The pressings from the Netherlands in the 70’s are the stuff of legend and here’s another example. Amazing sound on this pressing, solid from front to back, and it just happens to be orange. A killer and keeper all the way.- Edited 4 months agoNot bad but has that same veiled aspect to it that many pressing of this album suffer from. Miss You in particular has the light blanket over the speakers effect. You can tell RL pushed up the bass on other songs but that freshness and better clarity is not like a US OG. Monarch is the best of those OG I have.
