I just knew Tokio Hotel from name until I saw them on some talkshow in french channels recently. Their music "schrei" made me looking into their world a bit more deeply. So basically they have released the same album in two different languages. The one they did in German was 5 years ago, they were so young Bill's voice sounds like a little child's voice, which almost brings an involuntarily originality.
The original version of "schrei" (2005) is less mature but more agressive than the one on the 2007 version, but both are interesting. If you think they were around 15 when they did this and the band started when they were 12 (!) it's rather good, and it would be mean to disagree. So that cd has good tracks: good melody on the first one, good guitar riffs on track2, good basslines on track11...now this is of course not mature music, you can easily see it by yourself only from the cover which is just completely ridiculous, and the one of the scream album is even worse... but let's get over it, it would be pretty unfair to stop here. Mostly of their tunes are powerful enough to appeal something.
If you're a fan of poprock (this is not metal) you can check it by yourself, it's far from impossible you like it. I just stand up against a snob attitude who despise wrongly that band. My ears are rather those of a die hard electronic music fan, but I don't feel excluded while listening TH. I'm curious about the future material they will come up with, by the way I hope the car crash episode wasn't too serious ( )
In summary : a decent/good cd and a great debut. Personally I rather like it.
