Notes
Spiral, the first album where Vangelis utilizes his Yamaha CS-80 (which he would later use on the majority of his albums) which he had train-shipped from Japan, through Russia and into the UK ahead of its initial release date. Ballad contains vocals from Vangelis himself, sung through a vocoder. The cover art was also designed by Vangelis.

Just confirming 1978 as release year, take a look at https://www.discogs.com/release/2719935#images/23808450

Not as well known as his earlier RCA/Nemo Studios album (Heaven and Hell, Albedo 0.39) nevertheless this is my favourite of his RCA series. It's not a long album, but all the tracks are listenable and the quality of the German pressing is superb - hardly any surface noise.

A very satisfying production, cheerful tracks with beautiful melodies. "To The Unknown Man" is my favorite track.

Save up for an original RCA CD from the 80's/90's as this sounds bad. To much treble distorts the synths and drum beats along with added reverb.

This album is a must have! This is probably Vangelis' best album ever. The amazing opener, the easily recognisable Dervish D and the breathless power of To The Unknown Man. This is one of the best and I would recommend it absolutly!

I have this release, but it does not contain the 'Deutsche pressung' text on the front.
Who needs "remasters" like this? Additional reverb that wasn't present on the original release, as well as an AUDIBLE cut of 10 seconds from around 2:17 of track 1 make this substandard in the most offensive way. On tracks 4 and 5, the reverb treatment makes the audio mushy, while on others it has mildly beneficial effects, but still in essence creates new versions of every track. This is like Oliver Stone revisiting his Alexander's Directors' Cut over and over. Can't someone without a personal attachment to, or agenda for, the music do a proper remaster with equal parts enhancement and preservation? The inclusion of the bonus track is nice, but doesn't quite make this a good replacement for earlier versions of the album. What a shame.
