Shuggie Otis – Inspiration Information

I’m hunting for a cover for this OG Shuggie. I know it’s a long shot, but always worth floating it out there. The cover I have is more like a theory of a cover… a little heartbreaking bc the vinyl is sharp.

Picked this up today and will say it sounds decent. Not the most impressive sound stage or mastering but it doesn’t sound bad. Def a bit flat but the songs sound good. Can’t deny how incredible the album is even if the pressing leaves a bit to be desired. I A/B’d with Apple Music lossless and this def sounds better than that so I’m happy to own a copy of this.

Surely a better option than the Music on Vinyl version, as this is clearly an analogue remaster, from the original tapes so it says. The Mov version is sounding very digital to my ears; a great difference in comparison.
This finally opens up all the musical glory hidden in those grooves....

This record sounds really good in my opinion. Listened after giving it a good cleaning. Minimal noise and quite dynamic. A fine option if you are looking for a relatively inexpensive version of this classic.

Got a dud as well. Lots of noise in right channel, no punch or sparkle to recording. Bad batch? I wonder if this was sourced from a needle drop? By contrast, bought Freedom Flight at the same time from same vendor and it sounds stellar.

Think I must have a dud. Mine sounds dull and flat.

which all sounds that modern like recorded yesterday! hailed as a young
black blues guitar-"wunderkind", he was asked to replace mick taylor of
the rolling stones, but shuggie had other things in mind...

This is an absolutely stunning pressing. Dead flat, silent and depth of field and dynamics are tidy and warm. Really fun to listen to after years of the luaka bop CD issue. An absolute bargain! Grab it without fear!

Pressing is dead quiet, the mastering is good, bit Tidal sounds just a bit better. Cheap kacket, poly-lined inner, no insert
