Pat Metheny Group – Letter From Home

The volume of this vinyl is low, but aside from that if you crank up the volume it sounds great. Considering that an original vinyl runs for 100 USD used, getting this new for around 20 USD is a really good deal.

I bought the record because it was on sale, assuming it was a second hand edition. I received it and to my surprise it came factory sealed and the sound is quite good, compared to the still life copy I have, German of the time, very similar sound, strong bass, precise treble, a little noise in the middle from face 1, but nothing major. This label has reissued a significant number of records of various styles, I don't know if they will all have the same quality

First impressions are this is a poorly executed engineering and pressing. I had high hopes. There is little to no sound stage. Everything is just there in both left and right. It is very flat. The sound volume was also very low. There are lots of pops and crackles everywhere.

I would not recommend this pressing unless I just so happened to get the only bad one.

A lifelong Metheny fan, this is my favorite record and I doubted I would find a clean vinyl copy since they are pretty rare. Spotted this and paid a premium for it without any second thoughts.

The music is exquisite. Along with First Circle and Still Life(Talking), this is Pat's Brazil-era sound with large ensemble, latin percussion, horns, voices, the works. The magic formula is well dialed-in by this point: Lyle M, Steve R, and Paul W.

The mix is fantastic. Super layered and immersive throughout. Dynamics and details. Mastered by Bob Ludwig. Thankfully, I can say as much about this pressing, big and detailed, no complaints whatsoever.

One of Pat Metheny's all time CD's, look at all the different numbers of pressings!

Have three copies of this CD. Why? you ask, can't risk losing or breaking one, or even one not being readable after a time.

This release has a much better tonal range than remasters after 2006. Dynamic Range DB = 13db, and remasters have DB = 09 db

What a stunning record! Music is absolutely breathtaking, one of his best album (in my opinion) and this US press sounds just perfect, lively and dynamic, joy to the ears, solace for the soul...
