I don't actually have a copy of this yet and will probably score one later. Measure 2 Measure is based primarily on Phyliss Hyman's You Know How to Love me. I will now sound like those old guys I used to think were just old and crusty, but the original is just such an awesome song. By letting this one ride through, I feel stuck in a loop, waiting to hear the actual vocals break out but just get left hanging. Maybe it should be thought in context in that it's the job of the DJ then to drop the original. This is probably just a general criticism of the cuts based on vocal samples in that there's a line in which makes it over done.

Crushed IMO doesn't cross that threshold as it's less dense with the samples and it incorporates those from at least 2 sources.

My pick so far is KIXCLAP$CHORD$NHAT$ // now it's Finnapop (8/6/14).

I love this album and in Measure2Measure Kyle has treated us to his more accessible sound. My favourite record of 2013.

B2 Crushed is as nasty a house song as Detroit can release. It's an instant classic at least for me. Banging beat with chirpy highs, with layers of old school samples, filtered and EQ'ed to death. B1 Flemmenup is a spartan electro affair, shades of old UR tracks. D1 Measure2Measure is also a really nice deep house tune in that KDJ tradition. Be warned that much of the stuff on this release is experimental and honestly not dance floor friendly. Some of it is barely listenable in any setting. But that's art I guess. Don't want to say it's like Moodymann. Cause it's got a different structure and it's a cheap comparison. But there are similarities. This release has that level of creative quality. The cover image of the Boat Party is an evocative challenge about party culture. Or maybe it's just a boat in urban decay. Either way it has a message, a consciousness and that brings us back to Moodymann. It's easy to get confused as the artist's K are the same, KDJ and KMFH. Kenny and Kyle. I guess there are worse people to which Mr. Hall could be compared.
