Does anyone know the story about the BLUE vs BLACK labels?

MQA is a marketing gimmick. I wouldn't suggest spending money on anything with MQA.

First uk and as usual, a real great sounding album - precise, deep and punchy

My test press has a side A and side B plain white label Test Pressing of this album and it is is not showing on discogs. Same identifiers (as shown above) in side B dead wax, but side A Matrix is YEX 941 -1U SMAS-1-3418-ZIL. Picked up the LP in the UK while in the USAF 1980's. Have not seen another, even on Ebay.

Worth the price of admission just for "Far East Man"!

Not sure that all of these are but, mine is a Green Apple label on side 1 and sliced white Apple on side 2.

My copy plays flawlessly! I have always loved this release.

Just got myself a first UK pressing and it’s a game changer! This album sounds amazing if you get a good copy. It’s definitely “different” because of George’s voice change due to heavy touring and some extra-curricular “fun”, but the band rocks and has soul and so does George! If you have the recent reissue, put it aside and get a real good original pressing and you will rediscover this album and hear just how great it is :) I’m so glad I did!

I rarely comment on albums on here, but I cannot let this one go. This is a fabulous record. Every song flows into the next so perfectly and I find the production to be outstanding (can someone say, "Bye Bye Love?"). I think that all of the flack of this record is simply due to the fact that it's such a departure from anything that George had ever done before. It therefore attracted a different fanbase compared to his Beatles' & "All Things Must Pass" work. I am definitely a fan of this record. I feel that it's one of the greatest of all time.

My copy is the same UK version but with a small round silver sticker "X pathé marconi" beside the references PAS 10008 stereo
OC 064.05774. Also, there is no second inner sleeve with the lyrics but it could be lost : it was a second hand record.
