Notes
"Warm Leatherette" is the fourth studio album by Grace Jones, released in May 1980. Her first album recorded at Compass Point Studios, it features contributions from the reggae duo Sly & Robbie and marks a dramatic change in sound, dropping the disco of her first three albums in favour of new wave and reggae.
The album includes mostly covers, of songs by The Normal, The Pretenders, Roxy Music, Smokey Robinson, Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers and Jacques Higelin, plus two original songs.
Most CD editions include longer versions of 5 tracks, compared to LP. These first appeared on some original cassette releases of the album.
"Warm Leatherette" was the first Grace Jones album with cover art designed by her then-boyfriend, Jean-Paul Goude. The initial release featured a black and white photograph of Grace Jones pregnant, wearing an Issey Miyake dress.
After the commercial success of "Nightclubbing", Island Records reissued "Warm Leatherette" with new artwork, a picture of Grace Jones performing "Walking In The Rain", taken from her 1982 concert video "A One Man Show".

- Fantastic deluxe treatment given to a fantastic album (Can we have the rest now, please?). Neat little box with two CDs in card wallets and booklet. The only annoying thing is the wrap around card front that won’t fit inside the box, and so either gets packed away elsewhere, or, if you want to keep it with the box, has to stay loosely wrapped around the packaging. Not the end of the world, obviously. Just annoying.
5* for the album. referencing Warm Leatherette (LP, Album, Reissue) 90064-1
I don’t have the OG to compare to, and I’m sure it sounds fantastic but so does this…wow. Just crank it and zone in to Grace, Sly, Robbie and Blackwell. Plenty to get lost in. Then throw it on a party. Odds are, people will be dancing shortly once you do.- I have an Album verson with the outplay etching side 1 IPLS 1 9592 LW2

Anyone know? Thanks JMLinLAisBIG on here. - I'm interested in this but I would like to know- What model of blu ray or DVD player can be used to play this with a hifi amplifier and speakers?
- Impeccable deluxe edition, including all the extended and dub mixes, all mastered VERY tastefully. No loudness wars employed on this one, thank goodness.
The 1998 "Compass Point Sessions" was over compressed and exaggerated the low end. This one sounds far more natural for those songs. referencing Warm Leatherette (CD, Album, Reissue) 7 90064-2
This version of the album on CD has incorrect track times. The ones shown on the back are the times for the original vinyl release. Most of these tracks are extended mixes of the original release, though some are closer to the track time listed on the back of the CD/original vinyl mix. It seems like Island Records utilized the extra time CD's were capable of and allowed for an extended album time. Therefore, it's extended from 39 minutes to now being closer to 47 minutes. Giving almost an extra ten minutes to the album. I think it makes for a fun and unique listen, especially since a lot of the instrumentals on this album are really good and have aged incredibly well. Here's the actual track times for each track:
Warm Leatherette: 5:38
Private Life: 6:19
A Rolling Stone: 3:32
Love is the Drug: 8:41
The Hunter Gets Captured by the Game: 6:46
Bullshit: 5:17
Breakdown: 5:30
Pars: 4:45
Total time: 46:26- This is how to make a vinyl deluxe edition of a classic album and related tracks from the same era!
So many classic recordings could benefit from the same approach...
