Initially released in the fall of 1976, Leftoverture debuted on Billboards Top 200 album chart on November 6th 1976 (#96) with catalog number "PZ 34224". With the success of the single Carry On Wayward Son, Leftoverture reached the top 5 and stayed on the chart for 42 weeks. On July 23rd 1977 the Billboard chart included a changed/updated catalog number reflecting a new prefix (JZ 34224), indicating their record label/distributor had changed the 'list price' for the album. The earliest US pressings of the album have a PZ prefix on the catalog number, an X698 price code on the spine, and no barcode. Secondary pressings have a JZ prefix and no price code.

        Beauty of an album. Too poppy for prog rock and too cerebral for pop rock. The compositions are so unique and such a step up from their previous albums (try out Masque to see what I mean). Yeah Carry On grabs your attention but then The Wall goes all introspective. The bounce of Miracles Out of Nowhere is infectious but for me the jewel on this album is Cheyenne Anthem. So heartfelt and sung so well by Native American Steve Walsh you can almost taste the dust in your mouth from the buffalo going by. It's really not to be missed by any generation. I bought this the week it came out and they'll pitch it in the charity bin when I go someday.

          Picked this up for $5 at a sort-of thrift store and it is likely as good as any pressing you will find. Punchy bass, clarity of parts, vocals out front, dynamic. Excellent pressing.

            Mine has the no star labels, but came with a printed inner sleeve. Vey nice sounding vinyl.

                  Here we have an amazing prog rock album by Kansas and sounds great. This Europian/Holland pressing sounds fresh, warm and very crisp.

                    Los discos de época publicados por Epic en Argentina por lo general suenan muy bien y son muy fidedignas al sonido original de las ediciones americanas e inglesas. Este disco de Kansas no es la excepción, gran sonido incluso en mi equipo que es bastante modesto, en un buen setup debe sonar incluso el doble de mejor.

                      I have a copy of this with the same secondary Runout, but it has "PZ 34224" on both labels instead of "JZ 34224".

                        You might want to listen to that whole album again. I’m sorta shocked Kansas Left Overture is a fantastic album beginning to end and Carry on is a song that helped define the 70s rock scene no doubt but the whole album is great The Wall is such a beautifully written song. Common young dude listen to it a few times sometimes music grows on you. And that’s the music you carry on loving as you carry on through life. Kansas Left Overture is a great recording by a great bunch of musicians
