Sigur Rós – Kveikur

Is this correct that the 2018 had CD? I have a version that states " includes MP3 download".

I love this boxset, no complaints. All of my Sigur Ros records are great imo. I have other boxsets by them, and they are wonderful. They sound great, and I always enjoy the packaging. I’m not a huge fan of this “9 records” thing, because I actually listen to all of my records - I’m not just collecting or reselling. Switching the records that often is a bit much, but it’s Sigur Ros, so it’s really not that big of a deal for me;) Sigur Ros + vinyl = win

Great sounding pressing. Very quiet vinyl which is important with this band’s music.

Sounds great but i have 2 copies of side A/B !!! Anyone got 2 copies of side C/D ? Was hoping it was just incorrect labels, unfortunately not.

Seems that I'm in a minority who clearly prefers the OG to this pressing and I'm wondering a bit, what others are hearing here that would be better? To my ears the OG sounds more detailed and dynamic. The vocals and the highs are clearer and the low end sounds more natural and rich, for example the snare and the toms in Brennistein, or Stormur which has more punch as soon as the drums kick in. The biggest difference for me is the soundstage, which is extremely wide and open on the OG, almost 3D-like, what a beautiful sounding pressing!

Don't get me wrong, this pressing is still really enjoyable, but compared to the OG it's missing something for me. I also noticed that side A and D have significantly more deadwax here than on the OG (while side B and C are pretty much identical), so the dynamic difference is even visible in parts. Lastly there are more ticks and crackles here than on the OG, but that could just be my copy of course.

As a side note I also compared the 45 RPM version on 9LP, because why not. This is at least another or two steps up from the OG, extremely dynamic, rich and detailed, WOW! But that isn't a fair comparison of course.

I can confirm this pressing is outstanding. The separation, warmth and wide soundscape is incredible and blows the OG pressings of sigur ros I have out of the water.

My faith in RSD releases is improving.

Have to agree that this pressing sounds amazing. Never heard an OG but the second I turned it on my reaction was “D*mn this sounds great!” So there ya go ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have original release from 2013 (without bonus 10") and compared to this RSD release, the RSD is better in every regard. Color does not matter to me, if its green or sulphuric yellow, sound is what matters. Must say that original press is great but this new one is even slightly better. Mainly in instrument separation and position in soundstage. Then the bass. So gorgeous bass. Groove noise is very quiet. My copy came flat and clean. Great RSD release I was waiting for. Totally worth it.

Beautiful pressing! Great packaging and dynamic sound. For the $55 MSRP, I think they should have included the 10" with the bonus tracks, so it's a bit overpriced. Still happy to have snagged a copy on RSD!

Green vinyl for sure, lol, but regardless of that little error this is a fantastic pressing. Also, it's a BEAUTIFUL album that I'm not sure most people realize.
