Notes
This grouping gathers together all versions of the "White Light, White Heat, White Trash" album, originally released in 1996, as well as subsequent repressings and bootleg versions.
"White Light, White Heat, White Trash" is the fifth album by American punk rock band, Social Distortion, released on September 17, 1996, by Epic Records. The album was produced by Michael Beinhorn. "White Light, White Heat, White Trash" is the last Social Distortion album to feature guitarist Dennis Danell who died on February 29, 2000, of a cerebral aneurysm at the age of 38. It is also the band's last release on Epic Records. The album received Social Distortion's highest ever chart position, entering the Billboard 200 album chart at #27. Stylistically, the album is harder and considered a return to their punk roots.
The title of the album is a play on the 1968 Velvet Underground album, "White Light/White Heat". The Velvet Underground record is known for being one of the most original, and probably the heaviest, records of the time, just as "White Light, White Heat, White Trash" for Social Distortion has a harder sound than those albums preceding it.

Reviews
- I haven’t seen it mentioned..,but it appears this issue and all previous MoV reissues use original EU metalwork. So you are essentially getting the original EU mastering here.
- Great pressing, nice dynamics not too much surface noise (only between tracks). I have always been please with the quality of Music on Vinyl. Color is extremely pretty too.
- Chuck Biscuits did not play on this record, but it sure sounds like he did.
Deen Castronovo – drums (uncredited session drummer)
Chuck Biscuits – drums (credited as band member at the time of release, did not play on the album) - Pretty good pressing. The gray marble color variant is a nice touch and seems to fit the vibe of the record.
However, on my copy, there’s starts to be a lot of static background noise and skipping at the end of both sides A and B. It continued even after cleaning. Impacted songs were “Down on the World Again” on Side A, and “Down Here (With the Rest of Us)” and “Under My Thumb” on side B. Sounded great up until those points. - Edited 3 years agoTheir best work.
Fast and heavy punk riffs with fast dry lyrics.
Cover “under my thumb” by The Rolling Stones.
Must have. referencing White Light White Heat White Trash (LP, Album, Limited Edition, Reissue, White ) 88985341461
This either sounds compressed or its mastered at too low a volume or the original wasn't mastered that well to begin with. The sticker on the shrink says 'original master' but I don't know if it's cut from the original master or remastered from the original master or what. The clarity is horrible, the bass is almost non existent and muffled, the music lacks punch making the songs sound weak. Some bad sibilance on the vocals. I imagine this sounds no better than a CD, or maybe the CD sounds better? Dunno...Either way, doesn't have the enjoyable sound that the vinyl format benefits from.referencing White Light White Heat White Trash (LP, Album, Limited Edition, Reissue, White ) 88985341461
Why the hell doesn't this version include the Rolling Stones cover Under My Thumb? The original vinyl pressing had it, so it makes absolutely no sense.- Why is my Music On Vinyl version (I just bought) on Red and Black Marbled and Not White Marbled? It is numbered of 1000 but man am I confused. Anyone have ANY thoughts? Anybody else experience this?
- It makes absolutely ZERO sense why this album is being reissued by MOV when they just released the exact same version only fives years prior. This has the same problems as the 2011 version: grainy scanned artwork, surface noise galore and an obvious digital file source for the pressing instead of the analog tapes.
This is MOV's stock in trade for pretty much ALL their shoddy releases, which are far overpriced to begin with. Save your money and buy an original pressing (for virtually the same price if you look hard enough) and don't support this bootleg crap.
