The Chameleons – What Does Anything Mean? Basically

Beware. The seller - Sound Of Vinyl - are selling this as 2 x Clear Vinyl Edition [The associated image also shows 2 vinyls] I received mine today expecting the album across 2 records - It is just the standard 1 clear vinyl album edition - there appears to be no way to contact Sound Of Vinyl - Feels like a scam! As far as I'm aware - at this time Nov 2021 - There is no 2 vinyl edition of any kind. Be careful.

Noisy like most picture discs, but otherwise sounds good. Of course another fantastic album by a hugely underrated band.

Does anyone know if there will be more Abbey Road Remasters for the albums What Does Anything Mean? Basically, or Strange Times?

This pressing unfortunately is a very stale pressing. It lacks treble and bass, even with a booster. The reverb just dominates any guitar work; even though there is a lot of reverb on the album. Silence, Sea and Sky is the only song that sounds okay. Maybe my press was unlucky.

Damn I should have never sold this record! If anyone is willing to part with a copy I'm interested. :D

Nowhere near as good as “Script...” remaster, not even close. The vocals are buried in the mix. If I wanted a digital remaster I would’ve bought the CD. Vinyl is so noisy in between songs it’s not even funny. Mine’s not clear, but a creamy opaque colour, don’t know what “clear” means to most people but it means “clear” to me. So disappointing, after SOTB I was looking forward to hearing this. Whoever OK’d this mix should not be working in sound production.

Overall a very nice reissue but definitely subject to GZ's iffy quality control. Per my exchanges with the mastering engineer, the source for this was a 24 bit version of the previous remaster released on CD in 2009. I never bought that disc, but compared to my 80s Statik CD this LP sounds like the rhythm section was EQ'd to be more prominent. That's not a bad thing IMHO. The gatefold jacket looks great, but my first copy of this had some loud pops on side 2 so I exchanged it for another copy. My second copy is better but still not 100% perfect.

Excited to get this, whenever the place I ordered it from in the states finally gets it in & ships it to me.

Pre-order now... First official release in over 30 years. 2 different versions, clear vinyl with a gatefold sleeve, and also a limited edition picture disc (Limited to 500 copies). Both are available via the Chameleons on line store.
