Tracklisting was changed for this release and even worse, also contains the ridiculous monologue at the beginning. The aural equivalent of creating a beautiful meal and then defacating on it. Terrible decision by either Shining or Peaceville. Great album though, probably their best along with Halmstad. Needs a proper vinyl rerelease.

In almost every way, The Eerie Cold feels exactly what I'd expected it to feel like. This is the step before Halmstad. This album feels so much like Halmstad that it's hard to differentiate the two outside Halmstad just being a little more disturbed and a little more well composed. The Eerie Cold features Shining's regular breed of off black metal that at times feels more like hard rock mixed with black metal at times. The vocals are every bit as prominent, sometimes annoying sometimes perfect. I'm not one of those people that's going to tell you this is an incredibly dark album, but it is twisted and it fits the bill of depressive black metal even if it sounds unlike most other artists in the same subgenre. I could do without the voice clips, but this is a pretty desolate and unique release.

Tracklist changed and the first track includes fucking irritating introduction speech by some random clown who sounds like a redneck. Avoid this release!- My copy of this has a different track listing?

Honestly, I find the change in tracklist breaks the flow of the album.
