- Anyone have a preference between the "CD facsimile of the original vinyl set" version or the "Remastered" CD versions from '93, '03, or '05?
- I hate that "you snooze, you lose" mindset but when you love a certain type of music, you just have to go with the flow and get good fast with booking, pre ordering, buying as soon as the records comes out...
I remember i bought two extra copies for friends of the 3cd box, when it came out 20 years ago ( sigh, time flies...) but completely missed the 2016 vinyl reissue, actually among my friends into Nww that reissue went definitely under the radar.
Im 100 % sure there will be other reissues of SFL in the future, i hope it will happen soon... - I think there may have been a few of the original 3xlp box sets made without disc 3.. Hence why the separate album Soliloquy parts 5 & 6 was released soon after..? My orig box was short of disc 3, it was bought new (old stock find) from a london shop, albeit a few yrs after 1988 and did state '1st 2 discs only'.. so maybe..?
- Edited 2 years agoI now possess three copies of this set. One to play and two to keep sealed. why? Because it's amazing. Get lost in an ambient journey folks. It's a trip.
And it's worth the price. Much better then digital or cd. Lush, full, and widespread sound. Sounds like you are right there with steve as he is one with the electricity. - This is an excellent pressing, dead quiet and scarcely a pop on all eight sides. Though I prefer the elegant black and gold of the original pressing, the packaging is of superb quality here also, except the box is a little tight to hold the individual LP jackets, you have to squeeze it to get them in and out of the box. Very happy with this reissue.

Does the 4 LP set have different material than this 3 CD set? referencing Soliloquy For Lilith (3×CD, Album, Repress, Box Set, Reissue, Green Foil Version) DPROMBX666
Damn you Stevie with the reissues!!! Of course, I need the added material........referencing Soliloquy For Lilith (3×CD, Album, Reissue, Remastered, Box Set, Repress, Red Edition) UJ 666
Steven Stapleton's accidental effects pedal feedback loop that responded to nearby body movement, leading to him 'playing' the pedals like a theremin, creating a series of six side-long drone pieces in the process. An in-depth review is somewhat pointless: while the bassier throbs of the opening piece, and airier dynamics of the second bonus track on the 3CD version add tonal variety, overall the mood here is dark, sinister, choking. It's the sort of dark ambient music you'll want to get lost in, or trudge through once and never return to again, depending on your taste. You probably know which category you fall into already.
Stapleton wouldn't return to this style again until the 21st century, when he would show more interest in drone. At the time of its release, it stood out dramatically in his catalogue of noisy tape collage and free improv. Nevertheless, it quickly became his biggest selling album, and unsurprisingly, given just how effective it is.
