- Edited 7 years agototally agree with the previous reviewer .. this song is as magical as torsten fenslau's best productions! will never ever forget when i first heard it in the hr3 clubnight broadcast in 1990, played by dj torsten fenslau. It was played on many clubnights in the following months, and every time the track started, and especially at the fighting sequence, it gave me goosebumps, and for sure thousands of other listeners at that time. masterpiece. i prefer the german version, but that depends not only on the native language, but also what version was heard first for sure :-)
- "The Time Of The Gathering" is probably the best track not only from Time Modem but, from the entire BOY Records catalog. Awesome piece of music and full of all that 90's classic nostalgia. The vocal samples come from the 1986 British film "Highlanders" My favorite part is the intro. The "There can be only one" vocal instantly takes you to another dimension.
The German vocal version is also good, but since I don't speak or understand German, this version is slightly inferior to the English speaking version. Of course this is obiviously my opinion.
You also have "DJ's Nightmare (... We Call You Back.)" Is a nice New Beat track with that distinctive "Time Modem" Sound. Is more trancey than some of Time Modem's harder EBM tracks. It does sample a melody from "The Time Of The Gathering" albeit with a different pitch. Which is the only very minor thing that bothers me about this track. Not as good as "Time Of The Gathering" but a good track that could had fitted in their "Transforming Tune" album quite well.
Speaking of their first album, I never understood why "Time Of The Gathering" wasn't included there. That was a wasted opportunity. Luckily, you can find this CDM fairly easily. The 12" version will cost you more, but it's worth at least ten times the cost this sells for honestly, A must in any electronic music collection! Also quite underrated as most tunes from BOY.
