Generator 7/8 has a gorgeous vocal line (especially in the verses, though the chorus melody is similar), well-written lyrics predicting the Tchernobyl catastrophe by half a year, it has some of the hardest bass hits around at the time, and the production is simple enough and expertly done.
While the A side might be synth pop heaven already, the subtle remix on the B side (which leaves all the vocals intact) is even more divine. It adds a stronger snare, some dub effects to the vocals, and some stabs of distorted guitar riffs (which would later become one of Michael Münzing's favourite tricks - think of Snap's The Power). But most importantly it leaves away some of the airy synth sounds, to great effect. The remaining synths sound even sharper, and during the chorus the second voice rises to attention.
