How to find the correct CD-release with catalogue number 9362-45055-2:
- First European GEMA/BIEM-version with WME in matrix and French price code 'WE 852' in yellow tray-jewel case and without SID-codes.
- Another yellow tray version from the same time period, no 'WME', but 'MIS10' and 'SRC' in matrix. French price code 'WE 852' without SID-codes
- First WME-repress with WME in matrix and French price code 'WE 852' in standard grey tray-jewel case and without SID-codes.
- Second WME-repress, identical to the first repress, but with French price code 'WE 833' and sticker with reference to the first single releases. No SID-codes on this variant.

I have the MQA Japanese release of this which sounds incredible through my Astell&Kern Digital Audio player that has the ability to unfold this unique format. I also can unfold it through my MacBoook Pro, but it’s not as easy as ripping it with our music server. Ironically this is one of the few titles that I don’t have on Vinyl. I also have the DTS Dolby 5.1 DVD-A that plays back at 24Bit/96kHz and it’s far better than most any SACD I’ve ever heard, even the Japanese copies of various artist I own. I don’t know why 5.1 Dolby Digital DTS DVD-A didn’t take off, but the few other artist that I have on this format sound outstanding on our Surround Sound set up.There are only a very few of these that were made, but I have about 25 or so. Their very expensive and so far the BluRay Audio is not great at all! I have a few titles and only two sound very good. I do have to tweak the settings a little bit different than those for movies, but the DVD-A 5.1 disc sound really good.
This is a title on my “to buy” list that I need to purchase before it gets way to expensive and the only copies left are used copies. I think I would probably try to get the 180g version pressed at RTI! They know how to press vinyl and do it very well!

I have to agree. Pops throughout. Not constant, but enough to be noticeable. Otherwise it sounds fantastic.
This is overall a great sounding release of this album.
Firstly, this lp came out of the shrink extremely dirty. I wouldn’t even think of playing this without a thorough cleaning. After cleaning, the record is virtually dead silent.
Where the arrangements get thin as they often do on this album, this pressing has a noticeable bias to the bass guitar but surprisingly not the drums. Overall though, the vocals and acoustic guitars which form the musical foundation of these songs sound awesome here.
The issues with Nightswimming that many have lamented about are not quite the same in my experience. I think the instrumental sounds great on that track, there’s just a bit of distortion on the vocals that’s odd, especially since Find The River comes in directly after and sounds great in its opening passages. Certainly no “swooshing” that scared me off from this pressing when it came out.
This pressing fixes a lot of issues I had with the CD cut, as I always felt that the CD had a sort of sibilance in the acoustic guitars and cymbals. If you can deal with an extremely fat bass sound then you’ll love this.
Definitely worth picking up if you love this album and don’t want to drop the large sum that’s being demanded for original pressings.

This is an impressive release, extremely good sounding record. Very happy! Zero surface noise on this one.
Just ordered this on recent restock from Acoustic Sounds - exact same runouts as described for this release, pressed at RTI. It sounds phenomenal. Record is also flat and plays completely clean straight out of the sleeve. Very happy.
Certain tracks here have a beautiful staging to them, and I get the clear and crispness to the dynamics. It gets a little harsh for me in places. A little more balancing in the lower frequencies would have suited me. But yes, it’s a good sounding record for sure. Good separation between instrumentation.
Absolutely unreal mastering & pressing. This LP is one of the best-sounding records i have ever heard. Sure, it's a great 'recording' but this vinyl is a showcase for any great stereo. Not to mention that it's one of the greatest goddamned REM album ever.
I love this pressing. I sold my 1st pressing and kept this one. So clear and beautiful throughout. I can’t comment on the recent reissues 2015 2019 as I don’t have them. So if you want this album I would say go for this pressing. :-)
