Roxy Music – For Your Pleasure

My runout numbers match variant 4 but it has a typo on the center labels: "All Songs Written by Byran Ferry"

Classic album that, in my opinion, suffers on this flat and monotone pressing. I feel the sound gets muddied together and lacks the dynamism that I have heard from digital remasters. Maybe it is just this pressing but I have read other comments that state the UK pressing is better than the American one. I prefer originals to remasters so I may just need to seek out the UK pressing instead of the American one. Loses a lot of the flavor coming from punching drums, quirky synths, and good guitar riffs.

Great album, a true classic. Very nice sounding remaster. Lyrics but no additional information.

Certainly one the of most delicate sleeve ever produced in rock production.
This new mix from Abbey Road is merley perfect, sound is delecate, the line-up bass and drums have an enormous relief.
The work of Eno is more brillant than the early version.

"Sounds good for a Rainbo pressing" is like saying dinner was great except for the food poisoning. This is not a great pressing. Get the new Optimal pressed half speed master releases. They are vastly better than this pressing. I also have the box set from some years back. Another mess. Sleeves way way too tight, vinyl very noisy, and they do not improve with cleaning.

Fantastic bottom end, separation and stage on this pressing. You can hear into the music which is what I listen for when evaluating a pressing. The thunderous bass on every home and the floating instruments that shift left, right and center in bogus man is endlessly fascinating with replay value. The kick on strand to start this whole affair off right to the end is golden on this UK press. Highest recommendation especially over the flat USA press.

I bought the half speed and was so impressed with the sound I went and bought the other 3 titles as well. The vinyl is dead quiet and the instruments are captured at their best sound with superb separation. This goes as well for 'Roxy Music', 'Stranded' and 'Country Life'. I am so glad I got all 4 titles.

Does anyone know where this is pressed, it has Made in Germany on the photograph accompanying this listing but I heard that after the initial 2017 half speed masters were made the pressings were moved to Czechoslovakia.

I only have a 76 ATCO pressing, so my exposure to this LP is limited. That being said, if there is a better pressing of this (and the debut LP in this series) I would love to get my mits on it. The LP has great definition, especially in parts of songs that can be a bit shrill and muddled. Not to reuse that cliche, "It has an amazing sound stage...", but... it does. The drums and bass sound fantastic; focused and punchy.

Presentation is top notch. Gorgeous gatefold cover. If you are a Roxy fan or have always wanted to pick up their early LPs, these are well worth the price of admission. You'll be hard pressed to find any other release this good and you'll definitely not find one for under $30.
