This is a brilliant, obscure little gem from way back in 1977. These guys were great musicians who took a healthy dose of prog and infused it with a smattering of Kiwi weirdness to create one of the best late 70’s NZ prog albums. Also check out that interesting cover art; what the hell is that all about?
The album kicks off with the wonderfully propulsive bizarreness of ‘They Sleep Early in Cologne’ which was also released as a single. Best of all is the vapour-trail bliss of ‘Au Revoir’, full of wooshing synths, sizzling cymbals and topped off with a glistening guitar solo.referencing Schtüng (LP, Album) 2390110
Eccentric, involved prog rock arrangements featuring twin keyboard attack, plenty of percussion, sax & flutes.
Although not heavy prog by any means the twin keyboard and solid backing make this an album worth checking out.
The last track on side one "Au revoir" has an especially eerie streak featuring some great lead guitar tones.
First track on side two starts with some creamy electric piano and tasty sax break.
Track three side two is also a ripper starting with some lovely hammond and piano interplay wich builds into a great crescendo with some cool feedback guitar sounds and flute break.
Recommended for all eccentric progsters.
