Despite its wide distribution and success (it peaked at No. 5 on the UK Albums Chart), the album was released without the permission or knowledge of the band, and is thus regarded in some quarters as an unofficial bootleg live album. The album was, however, released legally by the band's former manager Patrick Meehan who owned the rights to the recording. The album was re-released with the approval of the band on 27 September 2010.
The live album consists of 1973 concert recordings the band intended to use for a live album, but was shelved after being unhappy with the recording. Tracks 1-5 were recorded at the Hardrock in Manchester, England on March 11, 1973. Tracks 6-9 were recorded at the Rainbow Theatre in London, England, on March 16, 1973.
The album was re-released as Disc 1 of Past Lives and the same recordings were remixed and re-edited to create the "Live In the UK 1973" portion of Black Sabbath Vol. 4 Super Deluxe

Probably the worst sounding live album I have, but then I'd heard this wasn't the best. Worth getting and listening to as its not very expensive. I really only got to add to my Sabbath collection.

The live at last VINYL reissue from 2004 sounds absolutely atrocious. It's another terrible Earmark sabbath vinyl reissue. Nice high gloss jacket, but LOUSY sound. I listen to my original 😌 cassette or my past lives vinyl or CD, past lives has a nice remaster of live at last on the second disc/record. Avoid earmark, unless you're a sabbath completest . Lol, I have so many 😅 versions of sabbath albums and a TON of "fan" releases . Sad 😔 we cant share like we used too

A really punchy pressing and probably (to my knowledge) the only official live album of the band during their prime. While not the Paris '70 or Asbury Park '75 shows, a really great live show with a nice divided setlist. Worth it alone for the wicked world jam with our first look of "into the void". Cool OBI strip, cool pressing, not much more you could ask for from this if you're a diehard Sabbath fan.

This is dark and heavy Black Sabbath Live album and I love it. My album has been manifactured by Planet Records Solina for Sweden and there is som pops and klicks, but not so bad.

I have this version with the 'Made in Eire' sticker on the B side. However, the labels are the same on each side - both have B Side labels. How I can quickly tell which side to play is that trusty 'Made in Eire' sticker only appearing on the true B Side.
