Nine Inch Nails – Hesitation Marks

Can't say this is my fave NIN album. But the audio quality is superb on my copy.

I was worried after reading some of these reviews.

My copy is perfect except for one non-sound impacting issue: the Disc 1 B-side label looks like it was applied wet. Like what happens when a hardcover book gets wet. Very paper-y and bubbled.

The vinyl and the pressing are as close to perfect as it gets. Crystal clear and beautiful wide soundstage.

Ran it pure direct to see if the mastering was as good as some said… it is!

Was "in conversation with" ever pressed on a CD? Wondering if i can find those demos on physical.

I’ve gone through multiple copies of this and every single Record 1 has been scratched, warped, scuffed, covered in debris/dirt, noisey and off centred.

Oh and every copy also has stitching and some non-fill on Record 1 and all roughly in the same places.

However, every Record 2 I have is near flawless. Go figure.

Don’t waste your money.

Stupendous! Get this while you can! Sounds fantastic and is definitely one of the more accessible NIN releases throughout. Won’t blow your speakers alternating between quiet blinks and white noise followed by modulated screams and guitars in the red. Yes, I’m looking at you, Downward Spiral. Truly good songwriting consistent through two platters. Eh, maybe I’m just Old and Not Cool, but this sounds like Trent finally subjected himself to a good editor.

Apart from some surface noise, this is an excellent pressing. I can deal with a little surface noise. What I can’t deal with is pops, clicks, and dirty sounding vinyl. Thankfully this pressing seems void of them. Seems to be mastered at a lower volume so though, so I have to increase the volume a bit when I spin this album but other than that it seems to be very well mastered. Sounds articulate to my ear. Plenty of bass but mids don’t suffer as a result

As far as the music, I think it’s an under appreciated album. I give credit to Reznor for branching out from the usual pit of self loathing, depression, and despair and experimenting with more upbeat pop and dance beats on this album. He still manages to keep one foot in the NIN we’ve all come to love

Could just be me... but I REALLY prefer the Deluxe CD album cover to this one. I read the artist for 'The Downward Spiral' also did the artwork this album. Apparently he created four covers, one for each medium. Pretty bad ass. Still think the thumbnail shown on this page would've looked way cooler. Oh well.

I might be lucky, my copy (after ultrasonic+VPI clean, haven't tried before) has very low noise floor, no pops, bass is impressive. I'm pretty sure this was sourced from the digital master.

Watch out kids! Crosley's new sellers are listing 2021 reissues instead of 2013 first press! Don't fall for it....

This is absolutely incredible. The production is insane. My copy is a really high quality pressing. Not having the same issues others are complaining about. This is a very cool album and it sounds fantastic. Give it a good clean if needed.
