This sounds amazing!! much better than the old-school cd version from 1999. I'm not sure if it's the fact that it's been remastered or cut at 45 RPM, all i know is it is great! If you've been waiting for a copy of Rebel on vinyl look no further! \m/
I noticed that there is a printing error in the logo of this release, namely the "horns" in the Y of the logo. I informed Halvor Bodin (the designer) on Instagram and he confirmed the error. The vinyl version has it right.

Believe it or not, this Back on Black pressing is good compared to many of their other pressings. It's a shame they are few and far between because the packaging for most are high quality.

Interested to buy "The Scorn Torrent" 12" that was issued with the Rebel Extravaganza LP 27361 64182.

This is, for me, the absolute pinnacle of Satyricons long existence. A completely flawless album in every sense of the word. This is a tie for my favorite black metal album of all time with Funeral Mists "salvation". I won't bash their other albums in this review but I will just say that Satyricon anno "Rebel Extravaganza" was a band at the absolute hight of their power, prowess and brutality. Being truly brutal both in sound and atmosphere is a feat most extreme metal bands seek, but so few ever attain. Satyricon OWN the concept of brutality on this release. It's also a very daring album. Released as follow up to a much more classical sounding black metal album, "Rebel…" scared away many fans and enraged critics. On the website "The Metal Archives" (which holds a lot of weight in the extreme metal community) the album only has a 52% rating out of a 100 based on 7 reviews. This is sad yet not totally shocking. It's an demanding listen to say the least. Songs which all land around the 10 minute mark rounded with short ambient pieces. The music is totally free of compromise. One of the many great things about this album is it's singularity. The soul singers on "The Scorn Torrent" and the use of a tambourine throughout the album makes a statement. Not only does these unorthodox elements fit right in, they also add so so much to the albums sheer momentum of force. What I'm trying to explain with all this is that "Rebel..." transcends music as a sound made by various instruments and vocals to be enjoyed by the listener. Not only does it have an atmosphere but it invokes a much stronger feeling of limitless possibility in the listener. It makes one question all other music.
