- I just had to hear this out of respect for the 1995 original cut. On "J.O.S.E. II" , Crack finds more familiar footing with the club bangers that were present on this record's predecessor. Still, Joe falls lyrically short throughout the whole album, sacrificing tales of wit in the search of a club hit.
In reference to club hits "Winding On Me" works to set the tone of the record with a verse when Lil' Wayne was at his auto-tuned finest."One" serves as the most authentic song on all of "J.O.S.E. II" as Joe spits about both his wife and his daughter, this record has stayed as one of my favorite hip hop songs since I first saw the video on Sucker Free Latino when I was in my teens , so at least "J.O.S.E. II" holds a classic Joe record under it's belt. This does not excuse "Aloha", Fat Joe rhymed "Louie" with "Louie" several times over, and that is just unexcusable for an MC of his caliber who has graced the mic for so long. Couple that with the laughable "Cupcake", "Pornstar", and "Ice Cream (why did Rae agree to this record?)" trifecta and put the lackluster "Music" and throw away Swizz track "Blackout" as the whipped cream and the cherry on top, and you have an album pumped full of artificial flavor that was thankfully the catalyst (due to the negative reception) to Crack's "Darkside" series (which Volume One holds it place as a personal favorite in the wide list of albums I have digested throughout my exsistence).
