Donna Summers is and will always be the best in electronic disco dance music.

I am confused as to why anyone will remix, re-edit her music with to exception: Giorgio Moroder.

Giorgio Moroder, Pete Bellote, Keith Forsey, and
Jürgen Koppers took care of this. This album is lousy, they screwed up "I Feel Love" out of everything. The original remix 15:00 min "I Feel Love" (1982).

Is untouchable, remarkable, uplifting, spiritual, climaxed with best High Energy Disco sound ever made.

Please leave Donna Summers music in it's original listing form. She would have kept it that way

The only reason this compilation is worth buying is ......The Masters at Work mix of "Last Dance"........Simply gorgeous music........Could not STAND the original version...but what Masters at Work do to it is simply magic.........As for the rest of the album?............No thanks.

Donna Summer was a talent- and when she got together with Giorgio Moroder, produced some fantastic dance tracks- in particular the ever-memorable I Feel Love which can easily stir a dancefloor today so I was hopeful with Verve behind the release it was going to be a respectful unity of remixes celebrating Donna's legacy. I guess with all compilations there are going to be a few misfires, but there are certainly some refreshing tracks here.

Despite other reviews here I really enjoy the Hot Chip remix of Sunset People as it reworks the hi-energy original into a bubbly, dubbed out journey that compliments Donna's dreamy vocal; Giorgio & Chris Cox's revision of I Feel Love (into Love To Love You Baby) feels fresh and breaks out of the 4/4 formula; and Chromeo & Oliver's remake of Love Is In Control & Gigamesh's take on Bad Girls keep the party vibe funky.

On the flipside I just don't understand Jacques Green's remix of On The Radio- filtering the vocal of the original into a brooding bog (whereas Duke Dumont's vocal cut-ups & filtering of Dim All The Lights kinda works). Afrojack's raving trip may modernise the Moroder bassline, but whereas I can easily lose myself in Patrick Cowley's 15 minute version, I kept thinking his was never going to end- and it's only 6 minutes long! Laidback Luke's just as rave-tastic on MacArthur Park but he still blends the progressive beats successfully with the vocal & instrumentation from the original. Even a perennial favourite, Masters At Work misfire on Last Dance, losing the euphoria and excitement of the original into a plodding mid-tempo chug; the looping of 'Dance With Me' (replacing the drops in the original) not helping.

The compilation may make more sense if it was re-ordered to follow the progression of a DJ's set, leaving the ball busters to the end. For any remixer not mentioned here they sit squarely in the 'average' category. Overall I like more of the tracks than I don't- but the duds are heavy.

The Sunset People (Hot Chip Re Edit) is slightly better.it samples Duran Duran but it is only available on Lossy format [iTunes] and if you only want that track you got to buy the whole release.sick of it!

I always thought Sunset People deserved a remix treatment.a proper one.but this is just...no comments.

Rosabel has done additional 2013 remixes of "MacArthur Park" that were digitally released.
