Harold Budd / Brian Eno – Ambient 2 (The Plateaux Of Mirror)

Any notes on pressing quality for this one? Does it suffer the noisy EG curse?

This collection of beautiful sounds deserved to be remastered by Abbey Road half-speed, Mofi or Analogue Production. I'm desperate for a good-quality vinyl reissue.

Already have this album and particular pressing. I’m searching for the Obi, Dm me if you have it and willing to sell it.

This record is incredible. I’ve been listening to it regularly for the last 20 years or so. I have this original American as well as the original British press. As a side note, I used to see Harold Budd almost every week without knowing who he was - I worked at a library in his neighborhood and he’d stop by to usually check out art and architecture magazines. I happened to see a picture of him with the Cocteau Twins towards the end of my time at the library and thought, “Holy shit! That’s Mr. Budd!” I never got the chance to interact with him knowing who he was as an artist/musician. He’ll always be Mr. Budd to me. RIP

Label covers the run out groove so if you’re slow the stylus skates on to the label creating horrible noise and possible damage

Christ! I bought my NM OG first press about five years ago for £20 right here. Shocked to see prices now.
Mine has a gold foil lettered ‘promo’ stamp o the back of the sleeve.
A landmark and wonderful album in any genre.

I couldn't disagree more with the below. To each his own I guess. You can listen and decide for yourself. This is one of my top 3 Lps out of a 1000 that I own. Great to meditate to at the end of the day and be reminded that just experiencing beautiful sound makes life good. RIP Harold Budd (Dec. 8, 2020). Budd's White Arcades has a similar piano approach and is a gem.

It's my least favourite of the ambient series, but that isn't to say it isn't a solid album that very much fits into the series overall. It certainly is worth multiple listens and something new is revealed with each listen. But I do at times find the piano kind of takes me out of Eno's original goal of having his ambient music be less interfering with the environment and more augmentative. In fact, Ambient #2 might be the most "foreground" Ambient album out of a series that is meant more for background music.
