- Edited one year agoWhen I first put this album in I thought, "oh no another one of those funky albums that's being humorous but stupid." Then track 2, I'm thinking it's not the best recording of a rather noisy song. Not a great jam, just a bit much... I'll skip ahead just encase.
But then.... track 3. Ok...a bit slower, good vibe, still a cruddy master but tolerable. let's keep going...
Track 4 - wait a minute, this is more funky, obscure and with an 'art rock' vibe. Worth a listen. Maybe a Crescendo of talent is coming?
Track 5 - guitar riffs trail in with arpeggios that intrigue, and about a minute in a VOICE. My God, why was Adrian Belew not singing like this before!? Wonderfully smooth vocals, this is a great track. The only reason I'm keeping this disc.
Track 6 - more rock now, and where I realized this album was meant as a radio sampler of sorts, a taste of different Crimson songs, which explains the different genre vibes throughout. (I read the liner notes and thought, "well now it makes sense...duh..."
I'll give this four stars just for that one track and introducing me to King Crimson. Overall it's not a well mastered CD and most of the tracks aren't my favorite. Hopefully I find some other gems.
