The only ones who ever reissued this album in both mono and stereo on CD were the Japanese, so the source used for this Scorpio reissue on vinyl in stereo may have been a Japanese stereo CD. Although the Scorpio reissues usually harvest a lot of criticism for sounding bad (flat, lifeless, etc., etc.) I do have to say that the Scorpio reissue in natural stereo sounds superb. It's important to mention that we're talking about natural stereo and not electronically reprocessed crap, and compared to the regular mono version, it's a whole new experience listening to this gem. Where the mono version offers a crisp, tight and more or less urgent experience, the stereo version breathes a bit more air through the performances and brings a bit more detail to the solos in each title, also because -at least on my audio setup- the highs are just a wee bit more sparkly. Anyway, listening to good old BLP 1568 in mono is one thing, but hearing it in stereo is definitely another and highly recommended.

Great pressing with no drop out issues over here. This may not be an essential Mobley release, but it is still very good hard bop.

Anyone know what year this was pressed? Ten words or more

Are the master tapes kinda rough on this one? I noticed a lot of tape damage? I kept hearing drop outs in the volume throughout the album. Kinda disappointed. The records look spotless and are not warped. Anyone else notice this?

Great album and one of my favorite Blue Notes. Definitely a high point of 50s jazz as it doesn't have an overly dated happy, swingin' feel the way many pre-Kind of Blue albums do.

Also a fairly historical album whose original pressing is very valuable record.
