Brian Eno – Ambient 4 (On Land)

Can someone help me with the version I just received from an online retailer. It has a 2018 label with the same barcode but no hype sticker, different run outs and a 'Made In Czech Republic' sticker on the back. It was filthy, covered in paper bits and white grime around the outside. Even after a wet clean there is surface noise cutting through every track.

Sounds great, but my copy at the end of track 1 has a locked groove in it preventing the needle from going further. Does anyone else have a similar issue?

In the paragraph on the bottom of the back jacket it says "these pieces have been used in conjunction with a series of vertical format video pieces which will shortly be available on VHS and Beta cassettes." Did these VHS tapes ever materialize? A google search for "ambient 4 VHS tapes" isn't turning anything up. Did they end up going by another name?

I love this album, and it almost seems like an alternative universe version…seems to be a different mix, though I’ve done no A-B testing, just my impression after a couple of spins. The thing that struck me the most, is not hearing that little bass riff on the opening track Lizard Point. It was maybe the most memorable point on the album, a kind of taste of what is to come, but I did not hear that on this release, which seems really weird!!!

Here is a completely random Eno story, but when I was 13 in 1984 I kept reading about this "ambient " stuff by Eno. So I thought I would take a chance and see what it was all about. I bought a copy of Ambient 4 on land on cassette. Took it home. Put it in my Walkman, pressed play, laid back, so excited to enter this strange new world of ambient I had read so much about. Then as the tape started, and it began with this loud crowd cheering, some DAMN funky music and then some woman who sounded like Tina Turner but had a potty mouth to end all potty mouths. And I thought to myself THIS is ambient music? Lol. Turns out, it was a manufacturing error. The tape withhin although labeled Eno, actually contained Millie Jackson's Live and Outrageous album 😆 🤣 😂. Look her up if you don't know who she is. Of course I still have it lol.

Eno’s Ambient series takes a turn for the strange in its final work. Whereas before it was mainly about finding comfort, On Land confronts the listener.

A perfect valley of unease is created while wading through these eerie tracks. Have been using at night when reading or somesuch. Hard to say which entry is the best or my favorite, but this has gotten more repeated listens over 2 and 3.

outstanding re-master by miles showell and abbey road !!! I own the E.G editions and they are noisy, this is dead silent and really lets this album and the details breathe a lot better dynamically. . I also just ordered the 45 rpm version and if this 33 sounds this good i think i'm going to be in for a real treat with the 45 mastered pressing.

Any chance someone could upload a high-quality scan of the OBI? Mine was unfortunately not with the record, and I'd love to print off a replica.
