Trans-X – Vivre Sur Vidéo / Living On Video

You want the 80’s? Now, here you go! This song was not a huge hit here in America, at least, but it still peaked as high as No. 61 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1986. An oddball New Wave and electronica synth pop hit from the slums of Canada and France. With cool yet dated sound effects, an over the top vocal performance, and robotic noises, this one is a winner in my book!

The record is perfectly OK, but they did not understand the original song. This version is overproduced and lifeless.

Love this song. As a new wave snythpop disco song, this is pretty much the archetype. Rythmic synth and simple lyrics that don't get in the way of the groove.

The Claptone remix of this synth-pop/Hi-NRG classic is nothing short of disgusting.
Unfortunately it looks like Unidisc went straight to the Beatport tech-house chart when choosing remixers for this series.

my copy is translucent yellow in clear plastic pocket stickered with Claptone Remix, with solid yellow cardboard insert.

My copy, with the text layout as displayed, does not play Vivre sur vidéo.

It plays Living On Video (the English version) on both sides.

Is it the same with all pressings that have this smaller text layout, or do I have a mispress?

Great 80s song, my record got destroy as a kid but now I have it again and still play it at clubs and people love it.

First vinyl i bought when i just hit my teens i was about 14 when i heard it in the charts' i found it in woolworths on 12" (85 Big Mix) but i had no money ;( when i got my pocket money like a crazed teen i grabbed a copy from HMV rushing off home to play it on my dads JVC home system (linear Drive record player) the bonus came when i heard Digital World on the flip!! i wore my Maxell UDII C90 cassette out playing this on my Sharp boombox along with Paul Hardcastle's 19 and Axel F.....happy times of youth..the Dub mix is great.....i could never decide the version i liked more the 85 big mix or the Dub mix considering I picked the wrong record up should have been the 12" but back then I knew nothing about remixed dubs lol.

Although style is listed as Hi NRG/Synth Pop it is very much in keeping with Italo Disco. Lovers of Giorgio Moroder/Depeche Mode/Yello et al will very much like this. It would fit in quite nicely with any Electroclash stuff and the Gigolo label. Listening again makes me realise why I bought it. Oh also you might want to check out Divine things like "Native Love Step by Step" and "Love Reaction".

I can't help but love this track, it's one of those records which you might be a little embarrased to play in the car in the company of others, and definitely one of those you wish you could play in a bar or club but don't dare! But it is so catchy! This is the best release as it has both french and british vocals. The english version is a bit more tame, the vocals, which are about computers and data with some rather silly verses ("Give me life, give me action / at the touch of a button / flying through hyperspace / in my computer interface"), are spoken whereas on the french version the vocals are much more intense and are sung with depth and passion. Even the vocoder is in French! This is another one of those happy synth tracks to make you smile.
