Analogue Productions has certainly hit the jackpot with this lavishly (re-)designed, fantastic-sounding reissue. If you're looking for the ultimate version of Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club, this is it!

Realistically speaking, this reissue can even compete with the crazy Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club 8x12" single-sided 45 rpm record box-set on Classic Records, which I also own. Honestly, I'd even say this reissue sounds a touch "nicer" to my ears. But that might also be because this beautiful Analogue Productions edition comes with a high-quality gatefold, double sleeve by Stoughton-Printing, and the informative, truly engaging 12-page booklet that the plain Classic Records lacks.

In other words, my eyes may be deceiving my ears a little in favor of this reissue. And I have to admit, I have a weakness for beautifully designed album covers and packaging.

To be clear: Ultimately, this edition too is classic, textbook vinyl upselling marketing for an existing product that has already seen many other releases. However, it is extremely attractively executed and offers further improvements in sound quality and design.

Be that as it may, this gorgeous Analogue Productions edition is already one of the highlights of this year's reissues. It's also reasonably priced for a 4x12" LP set.

HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION and yes, you should definitely buy it even if you have an earlier version of Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club 😉👍👍.

Suena muy bien esta edicion y viene con una caja de carton aparte que hace de una especie de funda para la tapa de plastico.
Lo unico negativo es la calidad de imagen del booklet, muy oscura.

Die Platte klingt absolut ruhig ohne Knistern und ohne Knacksen. Der Klang ist hervorragend.
Was zu dieser hervorragenden Qualität nicht passt ist die Verarbeitung. Alle vier Mittellochbohrungen mussten nachgearbeitet werden und die Ränder der vier Platten sind erstaunlich unsauber verarbeitet. Würde man bei einer Pressung in dieser Liga nicht erwarten.

The record sounds absolutely quiet, with no crackling or popping. The sound is excellent.
What doesn't match this excellent quality is the workmanship. All four center holes had to be reworked and the edges of the four records are surprisingly poorly finished. You wouldn't expect that from a pressing in this league.

I would like to know if this is confirmed as an AAA cut/release?

FWIW I’m convinced this is the first Classic Records issue. I bought my copy new in the late-90s, either 1998 or 99, and at that time it was the only version and Classic were a couple of years away from doing anything on 200g vinyl. I think the whole timeline of this release is wrong, the 200g is a reissue from the early ‘00s.

One of my favorite albums, so for me this was a must have. Comparing it to recent BG 2021 repress, I do feel this is much improved when it comes to dynamics, but most of all the vinyl is noticeably quieter. For me 45 RPM isn't a deal breaker so I am happy with the upgrade.

Would love to know how this compares to the 25th anniversary BG cut on world circuit. Is it on par with the classic 45’s?
