The Joshua Tree is U2's fifth studio album and was released on 9 March 1987 (UK and US) / 10 Mar 1987 (Europe). It won the 1988 Grammy award for Album Of The Year and saw the band on the cover of Time magazine billed as 'Rock's Hottest Ticket.'
It entered the US album charts at No. 7 and reached No. 1 three weeks later. It was U2's first album to reach No. 1 in the United States. In 1999, it was awarded the RIAA's highest certification, Diamond, with 10 million units sold. The album also peaked at No. 1 on the UK, Canadian, West German, Dutch and Australian charts. In Switzerland, the album reached No. 1 on the charts and stayed there for a total of 33 weeks.
The album and sleeve cover also placed No. 1 in Rolling Stone magazine's annual Music Awards chosen by readers. Critics there made it their No. 2 album of the year. U2 also won Best Rock Performance By A Group Or Duo at the Grammy Awards for the album.

Just got one for €55. Rare find. Very happy with it. Great album, great sound.
This is a fantastic release. Sound-wise its top notch. Quiet and click/pop free. So often with big deluxe boxes like this I play the extras maybe a couple of times, then they go back in the box, forgotten. Not with this. The live album is wonderful. Perfect track listing. Must have been a great night out ! The remixes are also quality and I’ve stuck them on - don’t laugh - a minidisc for easy peasy playback (Note to self : do the same with the live album).
The extraneous stuff - prints, lovely big book with all the text you’ll ever need, are fitting for a big ol’ box like this. I’m sat with it next to me now and yeah, this is how deluxe reissues should be done imo. Everything in the box relates to TJT. No wrong tracks or songs from a different era of U2. Its The Joshua Tree packed into a beautiful box.
If I have one gripe its the outer box. It is a lovely thing but you will have to go careful how and where you store it. The surface of it is such that I can imagine it wouldn’t take much to scuff the surface. I wipe mine over every now and then with a barely damp cloth just to whoosh it up a bit.
Anyway, I suspect everyone that wants this already has it. But if you’re sitting on the fence about whether to buy or not, well I say Get your wallet out. I’m not even a big fan of TJT. It would be number 5 in my Top 5 U2 albums. However, there is no way I can find fault in this release.
Oh how I wish The Unforgettable Fire was accorded the same treatment ! I would be all over that.
I agree with the comments, this is a really good club pressing. Not flat what so ever, nice and dynamic.
Mine (factory sealed) came with two black polylined inners in which the records are housed. The glossy printed inner sleeves were stored inside the gatefold. Excellent packaging.- Just bought a used copy of this and got it for a super low price because it was severely warped (record pi fixed that), but holy shit this sounds great. Deep bass, dynamics are very nice. Was gonna get the modern reissue but I can't see it sounding better than this.
- Amazing pressing. Almost none (not to say 0) surface noise. Great and clear sound. Perfect levels on everything. A must have pressing.

I'm glad to see so many positive comments on this disc. This has always been the version I have returned to. It has the clarity without being clinical, it just sounds right.
Really lovely pressing - clear vocal/instrument separation, dynamic, quiet floor, and lots of attack. I was fortunate to find a well cared for NM vinyl and would highly recommend. Red Hill Mining Town is an excellent example (on my copy) of this pressing's qualities.- Hi
