"Denis" (pronounced like "Denee") is the lead single taken from Blondie's album Plastic Letters. In most countries, it was the first single, except for Japan, where "Kidnapper" was released first.
The song was originally recorded by Randy & The Rainbows - Denise in 1963. Blondie's version became a No. 2 hit in the UK and a No. 1 hit in the Netherlands.
In the UK, "Denis" was released as a three-track single, featuring "Contact in Red Square" on B1 and "Kung Fu Girls" on B2.
A large variety of B-sides exist across the planet:
- just "Contact In Red Square" in France, Italy and South Africa;
- just "Kung Fu Girls" in Australia and New Zealand;
- "I'm On E" in the United States and Canada;
- "No Imagination" in Japan;
- "In The Flesh" in the Netherlands and Belgium (an A-side by itself -> In The Flesh but not released as such in those countries);
- "Bermuda Triangle Blues" in Germany and Argentina.

Reviews
- Never saw a UK copy with the (misprinted) European sleeve back in the day- has someone just matched it up to the paper label single, or were hybrid editions put out by Chrysalis to meet demand? If anyone knows for sure, i'd love to know.
- I have one like this but the text on the cover is completely missing, only the foto of Debbie is on the front and back cover.
There is evidence of where the text should be, as a white cutout in her arm where the butterfly and the text "Chrysalis" and the number "11 821" would have been, also in her hair where the "-" of "denis" would have been.

My version is quite similar except the Chrysalis and butterfly logo on the paper label is in red.
