Very noticeable, persistent surface noise in the right channel throughout tracks A1 and B1. My copy was a bit scuffed/scratched from the rough inner sleeve so there were some pops throughout. Otherwise, super punchy pressing, and remarkably clear for such a lo-fi recording. A bit better sounding (recording quality wise, and only slightly as Deathcon sounds beautiful on my system) than Deathconsciousness IMO but I think that’s just as this was a “proper” recording and not remastered from backup mp3 files on Dropbox. Spun on an AT-LP120X with AT-VM95ML microlinear stylus through late-90s Onkyo TX-910 receiver with Pioneer SP-BS22 speakers.

Pretty sparse release- no lyric insert or booklet, generic rough paper inner instead of poly-lined (I wonder why they chose this as both Deathconsciousness and Sea of Worry had poly-lined inners). The gatefold itself is pretty thin and is on a pretty rough stock. Track B4 on the rear of the jacket is misprinted as “Emptiness Will Eat the With”. As far as the pressing itself goes, I noticed some light surface noise in the right channel in the beginning of tracks A1 and B1. Otherwise, my copy sounds super clean. Sound quality here is excellent- really rich and full with a whole lot of punch, slightly better sounding than Deathconciousness- but that’s probably as that album was remastered from backup mp3 files on Dropbox. For being such an intentionally lo-fi recording, this pressing sounds super clear and colorful cranked on my stereo.

Does this 2019 press have track B4 misprinted as "Emptiness Will Eat the With"? I bought a 2022 repress on black with B4 misprinted, but I see the original 2014 version has B4 spelled correctly.

As far as the sound goes, this (2022) pressing still has a few issues. There is fairly quiet but persistent surface noise noticeable mainly toward the end of tracks and the dialogue on B1, as well as a few miscellaneous crackles. Obviously HANL has a distorted sound palette, so I would suggest some imperfections are probably production choices. I don't have the original 2014 pressing to compare. I still find it enjoyable to listen to but I suspect some audio purists on this site will not. Listening on an Audio Technica AT-LP120 with elliptical needle, ancient Pioneer amp and crap speakers.

Great record, obviously. A worthy follow up to the monster debut and probably my third favourite of all Dan's releases.

Deathcon comes with the book, is there any reason why this doesn't have any lyric sheet at all?

El álbum es una maravilla, la banda realmente estaba afilada en cuanto a la mezcla de estilos que venían trayendo desde Deathconsciousness, y con este disco no dieron un paso atrás, sino que avanzaron. Si bien no es un clásico como el ya mencionado primer trabajo, es altamente recomendable y está a la altura de una agrupación que siempre nos brinda emotividad y criterio a la hora de desarrollar su música.

Párrafo aparte para esta versión en CD en particular: es HORRIBLE y POBRE. Creo que para los precios que se manejan por estos discos, uno espera un poco más de desarrollo en cuanto a su arte exterior a la obra musical.

Would pay 50 bucks for this variant, let me know if anyone wants to sell theirs

Personally, I think that the pressing sounds great. Very very minimal noise if any at all, and it sounds as full as music like this can.

Powerful sounding reissue of a great album. It has a small bit of surface noise in the beginning of side A but other than that, the quality is great. The album sounds thick and cathartic. I definitely prefer this mix over the digital one.
The colored vinyl looks great and the bandcamp code accompanying the release is a great practice. More labels should adapt it!
I'm really pleased with this variant overall!
