A very interesting approach in mastering. I had been listening to the Apple digital 16/44 streaming lately which is a bit forward sounding so when I started to spin this MoFi, at first I thought it was going to be of those extremely warm romantic and laidback sounding cuts. But then on track 2 it changed the tone and noticed it was sounding even more clean and exciting than the digital. Then track 3 it was back to that very warm tubey tone, like almost hiding the drumset behind my right speaker. Side 2 had same approach. I am aware that the ballads were recorded in a different studio than the upbeat ones but the 2 versions found currently in Apple music (Lossless) don't present these tone changes between the songs.

So either MoFi mastered the ballads differently to the upbeat songs, or the Apple Music 16/44 was mastered to sound with a very consistent tone all the way through. I gave the record a 2nd spin and embraced the sound of the MoFi better. It has a very nice tube like tone, very analog despite the source for the cut was digital.. Who cares after all.

The vinyl, well... "Super Vinyl" seems to be snake oil with the only difference to my RTI pressings being that it is a bit translucent but has about the same noise floor and few clicks here and there.
I found a bit frustrating that I have to pay extra for this title without getting any improvements as advertised but the sound compensates for that. Though I hope MoFi and other companies stop throwing BS about their magical resin just to charge more.

I have a weird Terre Haute pressing of this. Labels are identical to this release.
          (Side 1 Stamped):
          XSM-59704-1AA HH (etched)
          (Side 2 Stamped):
          o XSM-59705-1C HTH III-II (etched)
No number 4 on back cover.

Side 2 runout matches a Pitman pressing (minus the etchings), Side 1 runout seems undocumented.

Very disappointing experience with this MoFi version... First copy (# 002042) has a lot of visible marks/scuffs and has a lot of surface noise, many many clicks and frequent nasty pops. Definitely not the quality I was expecting from MoFi, so I returned it for a replacement. Then I received the copy # 001866 and, my God, it was warped like a roller coaster (easily the most warped record I've seen in my life to date, no joke...). Due to this, the sound is, again, terrible. Lots of clicks and pops on both sides. Unacceptable for a record of this price. So, I will return it again. After spending some time on that frustrating process, I think will finally stick with my cheaper DOL version (https://www.discogs.com/fr/release/7131198-Miles-Davis-Seven-Steps-To-Heaven), which have a less airy presentation and more sharp/present upper-mids, but also a way better pressing quality, for less than 1/3 of the price of this disappointing MoFi version. In sum, make sure you'll have a good return policy if you decide to take the plunge... 1/5

This album is not easy to find in my region, except for crazy expensive pressings like MOFI, so when I saw this more reasonably priced version at a local seller, I decided to give it a try. Record is mostly flat. Jacket feels a bit cheap and minimalistic. Some surface noise and some clicks, but nothing too bad / too distracting, especially at that price (except on the bonus track "Summer Night", which sounds terrible on my copy). Overall, I'm quite surprised since I didn't have high expectations from that label, especially at that price level... While not the best pressing, it sounds decently detailed, clear and present. A pleasing version which doesn't break the bank. 4/5

Any thoughts of this pressing? Thinking about this one to buy or the 2023 MFSL pressing. (https://www.discogs.com/release/28603312-Miles-Davis-Seven-Steps-To-Heaven)

Spectacular pressing! Vinyl is dead quiet, even quieter than my example of the more expensive AP UHQR Kind of Blue. This is a lovely recording of one of my favorite Miles records. Highly recommended.

To my ears this is a fantastic sounding album. My new favourite Miles. Compared this to an OG 1963 pressing. The OG has more upper midrange emphasis and not as much bass which gives it a more live, in the studio sound. The overall experience is exciting but a bit fatiguing.
The Mo-Fi is much more enjoyable overall. I'm not exactly sure what Mo-Fi does with Miles Trumpet but to my ears it is much better sounding: More detail, more nuance, more musical and not fatiguing at all. The increased bass on the MOFI is not bloated and it allows the bass notes to be easily followed providing a clear foundation for the music.
The Supervinyl is dead silent. There is the occasional tiny tick here and there but they are the type that disappear after a few plays and a cleaning. (very slight dish warp but when a pressing is so clean and sounds so good I can easily live with the dish warp. The stylus doesn't go up and down just need to raise the VTA a bit on one side)
