Notes

Band's EP made entirely from cover songs.
First US release: Aug. 24, 1987.

Band's first release to feature new bassist Jason Newsted (he was previously in Flotsam And Jetsam). Also band's first recording to be released in Europe by Vertigo Records (previously they were distributed by Music For Nations, Roadrunner Records and Bernett Records/New Electric Way).

Information about covers:
- Track A1 originally by Diamond Head
- Track A2 originally by Holocaust
- Track B1 originally by Killing Joke (some European releases of this EP omit this song)
- Track B2 originally by Budgie
- Track B3 originally by Misfits (contains hidden cover of Iron Maiden's opening section of "Run to the Hills")

The Paralex song "White Lightning" was also to be recorded, but later dropped.

Long-out of print (as this EP is now part of Garage Inc.'s second disc).
Re-released as a remastered version in 2018.

In Australia and New Zealand, the EP was released with a hype sticker saying "CUSTOMERS PLEASE NOTE: 'The $5.98 EP' is the actual title of this recording and has no bearing on the retail price in this country".

Tracks 8, 9 are taken from: https://www.discogs.com/master/6402-Metallica-Creeping-Death

Tracks 10,11, 12 are taken from: https://www.discogs.com/release/1116190-Metallica-The-Good-The-Bad-The-Live-The-6%C2%BD-Year-Anniversary-12-Collection

Tracks 13, 14 are taken from: https://www.discogs.com/master/27065-Metallica-Jump-In-The-Fire

The sound quality is great in my opinion. It is questionable which the sources is used (especially for the 6 1/2 Anniversary). At least I don't hear any vinyl ripping noises. TAU Analyzer tells the files on the CD, are between 30-80Mb size (normal) and source is not MPEG (MP3), except for the track 11 which shows MPEG. Spectrum and Frequencys looks normal. Who knows...

A great E.P. to test a Hi-Fi system when trying out new separates in a store. Superb pressing. Deep bass drums. Bass guitar actually sounds like a bass. Guitars clear and separate. Listen carefully on 'Crash Course' and you will hear the pick 'clicking' on the bass!

The hype sticker in the photos cannot be from 1987.

Hello, is this release top-loading (where slit is on top)? There exists a Singapore DJ copy of this release version that is top-loading.

A lot distortion on the high ends, this record has a master so big for 33 rpm! when i opened it and saw the size of the ,master i thought it was a 45 RPM
I have the Garage Inc box set in 45 rpm and this record remaster take more space in 33rpm than the 45rpm is ridiculous. normally with Chris Great but that one is not.

The last good album they put out before they started pissing in the ears of their true fans. They took these covers and F'ing OWNED them. A must-own for any lover of their first 3 with Cliff.

Mine skips quite significantly in the intro to The Small Hours which is a shame as it's my favourite track on here. Also a few minor ones in Helpless, which again, sucks.
Not sure if it's just my copy, but I had the same on the Blackened MOP release too.

Mine has exactly the same matrix numbers, but the stamped "A" for Allied Records is on label side One, not on side Two as shown here.
