Dear all, the etching reads miles abbey road room 30, but there is no sign anywhere that it was cut on half-speed. I know Miles seems to cut records at half-speed in this particular room, but checking abbey road studios homepage there is also other equipment in that room so might be that this one is not cut at half speed like the others wearing the typical half-speed OBI and 1/2 speed etching. Please clarify if someone knows. Cannot find any e-mail to abbey, otherwise i would like to hear straight from the horses mouth. Brilliant album and release whatever the speed. Peace

No Noise what so ever on my copy. Sounds fantastic, quiet and full of sound.

Is anyone else's copy of this really noisy for no real reason? My copy looks relatively clean, and even with 2 wet cleans, the noise is pretty bad on this. I'm just wondering if it's like poor vinyl quality of this release or just my copy in particular.

I guess I got lucky. Both discs are flat and quiet. This remaster is gorgeous, and proof that half-speed isn't always bad ;) .

I bought this at a local record fair earlier this year for $20. Brought it home, and it sounded like shit. Rife with distortion throughout. I was ready to write this off completely as a terrible pressing.

However, I've just spun it again after giving it a clean with a Pro-Ject VC-E and I'm astonished. Where there was once abysmal high-frequency distortion, there is now a wonderful dynamic range. I didn't know that was even possible.

Interesting to note: I also bought Equinoxe from the same record fair for $5. My dad ended up shilling out $70 for only two or three records. Equinoxe is the only one out of everything we both bought that played perfectly without any cleaning. The cheapest record played better than any of the "ultrasonically cleaned" (i.e. scalped) discs. Ironic really.

My copy is noisy. Pops, crackles and even occasional distortion. I wish I could find a better copy.

My copy suffers from no defect what so ever, it is perfect from A to D. Sorry to hear that some users - definitely not all as suggested by unlucky owners, but yes, vinyl post millenium is sadly a volatile game, but, when it hits the spot, it's pure magic.
I already have the original album, but the extras here are sure worthwhile, and if I don't buy a record when it comes out, sure, the prices are bound to go up w popular/reverred artists, so why complain about high re-sell prices? Most vinyl isn't near anything cheap to begin with, so there rarely is a "decent price" incl. shipping anyway. ATM, Nov 2022, there is a NM copy at €45.00. Of course, it might get repressed, but surely not at "bargain price", even if I can't remember the original price that I paid.

That is a price that surely made me hesitate, and then, "if I don't buy it, prices will go up" and they did. Now the money is long gone, but this beauty is still around :)

I own this version since the very early '00s, bought it second hand, was virtually unplayed, fully NOS..... the sound is fantastic, there's only minor background noise, mainly due to the nature of the music itself!

Like butter. Worth every single penny and more. Just get a clean copy.
