Great sounding first press…the bass is great und it surprised me a lot that a 60ies record has so much bass information on it. Maybe this record is in a technical view not perfectly mastered, but the sound is so authentic, direct, detailed and heavy that i was totally flashed as i heard it recently. If you have a good equipment this is the pressing to get!

To put this issue into a frame: in the mid-80s there was a large bulk of reissues dedicated to "psychedelic rock / 60s psychedelia" records from the US, that had never been issued in the country. I cannot say what sparked that "wave" of psychedelic rock reissues back then, but most probably was the 60s revival sound of the day. No matter the cause, this was a huge chance for the psychedelic rock fans of the country to come in touch with some of the greatest works of the genre - which were only available in some imported (and expensive) reissues - there were cases that some lucky ones had spotted an original copy here and there, but they were extremely few. Some albums that were reissued were: the 1st one of the 13th Floor Elevators, the first two one of the Ultimate Spinach, the first three of the Seeds, the first two of the Love, the "Underground" of the Electric Prunes, "the Eyes..." of the Beacon Str Union, Strawberry Alarm Clock's 1st, etc. Along with these relatively known artists came some surprisingly unknown albums, never heard in the Greek music public before, most probably under the guidance of some "gurus" of the genre (yes, there were some of them in the country, even back then): utterly obscure names, such as the Freeborne ("Peak Impressions"), the Smoke (by Kim Fowley) and...this one. These obscurities, in particular, were sourced from used original copies that had reached the country in the hands of some very few lucky ones. It was then that these records first came in contact with the Greek rock audience and they were greatly appreciated (OK, at least most of them).
It is under this prism that this specific reissue should be judged: most probably, they were illegitimate reissues (spotting the company or the royalties must have been a huge, very difficult, and costly task, so the minds beyond that movement of reissues decided to bypass it), but they were cautiously taken care of; their sound was quite good and clear, the tracklist was respected and the covers came from good colored photos of the original ones, with respect to the artwork. There was not much more that could be done, considering the means, the finances, and the lack of other sources back in the day in mid-80s Greece.
This is the case with this one, as well: it comes with a good, clear sound, although its vinyl has the tendency to get dusty (as with many Greek 80s vinyl records, yet bot all of them). Nevertheless, it provides joyful listening and a rewarding experience to the curious listener.
Nowadays, there are many noteworthy reissues for someone to pick, and some of them maybe carry a better than the original sound. Yet, for the Greek fans in particular that were grown up in the 80s or 90s (when these records were still floating around), these reissues carry a nostalgic, sentimental value, while they maintain a good value (sonically) as reissues, per se.
So, I'd recommend this one, especially for the Greek psychedelic rock fans. Keeping this one blocked allows it to be found at a lower than the usual price since it can be sold in a significantly smaller buyers base. This is a rather welcomed thing, in the end, since it increases its value-for-money ratio.
So, yes, if you fall upon one, my advice is to go and get it! You'll have a good add-on at your collection - and if you are vastly interested, you can always upgrade later!

Two warped copies from different retailers. Great album, but unlistenable condition. Guess I'll look for another pressing and keep running up my tab.

Having compared an original to the 2019 Modern Harmonic reissue I have to say Im surprised at how similar they can be, yet not.
The original is louder and it does generally have a slightly lower EQ lean. Red The Sign Post lacks bass almost completely on Kevins cut for example, but while the original has that its got less clarity in drums and vocals.
On Rose it becomes difficult to tell them apart however so its hard to make a clear choice.
But I would probably nod towards the original as song transitions seem less jarring overall. Perhaps the reissue uses mulitple sources of varying quality.
