Outstanding press (perfectly clean sound, no distortion yet loud mix on a very quiet vinyl).

Limited to how many copies? I have a copy but it isn’t hand numbered.

Laswell really got inside Miles' music to put this release together, as a snapshot of the 69-74 era it works well, and the mixes have been reworked effectively, Laswell clearly brought his dub sensibilities to the low-end, needs to be heard loud, with full bass extenstion, especially Black Satin/What If/Agharta Prelude Dub. This is a good release to start with if you are stepping into Davis' fusion material for the first time, and even if you are familiar with the material, still well worth a listen in this context.

This was the first time that anyone had attempted to remix the master on a full album release so Laswell had much to live up to. Did he pull it off? Hell yeah! It certainly helped that he chose some of Miles' finest work from from his fusion era. Wisely he decided not to tamper too much with the originals but rather use subtle electronics and rearrangements to create an album which distiled the essence of the music originally written over several years in to one amazing hour.
