- One of the few gatefold versions of this masterpiece. Don't understand why it is not more popular and holds lower value than it probably should. This is a great compliment for those who own the 2x45rpm LP versions of the first three albums released by Music For Nations.
- I have a copy with these exact matrices:
Side A: 836062-1 (stamped only)
Side B: 836062-2 (stamped only)
Side C: 836062-3 (stamped only)
Side D: 836062-4 (stamped only)
All matrices are machine-stamped with no additional etched text (no VERH, METALLICA, MASTERDISK DMM markings that appear on most variants listed here).
Label shows "Made in Holland", Vertigo logo, barcode 0 42283 60621 0, LC 1633. Sleeve is glossy or between glossy and semi-glossy, vinyl is exceptionally thick/heavy quality (feels like 180g per disc, could be lower). Condition is NM/NM.
Has anyone seen this simple matrix variant before? Is this an early pressing or undocumented variant? Would appreciate any insights from collectors familiar with different matrix variations of this pressing. referencing … And Justice For All (2×LP, Album, Limited Edition, Reissue, Stereo, Dyers Green) BLCKND007R-1
Is this coloured pressing the same (sound-wise) as the standard black remaster vinyl? Better? Worse?- Edited 26 days agoIts the normal 1988 first press...

Great pressing.
Lots of bottom, super punchy.
A descent system will let you know Jason is really there. Pretty close to how they levelled Cliff.
My JBL L100s testify.- I refuse to accept the fact a Columbia pressing of any album is superior. I learned my lesson and avoid club pressings like Columbia and RCA like the plague. Y’all can have em.

When it comes to Japanese Metallica pressings it is kind of a mixed bag. I prefer the US pressings of the first 3 albums over their Japanese counterparts (although the Japanese are always cooler from a presentation standpoint). That being said, this version beats out the US pressing in my opinion, better instrument separation, dynamics, and dead silent vinyl!referencing ...And Justice For All (2×LP, Album, Reissue, Remastered, Repress, Stereo, 180G) BLCKND007R-1
Great sounding pressing. Quiet, heavy and centered. This record has always had a very tight sounding mix. That's the beauty of it. The drums, bass and guitars are all tight and right down the middle typical of a Metallica mix. I think many people expect all music to be mixed the same; exaggerated highs and bass, and scooped mids. Not the case with IJFA. This mix is the best I've ever heard. Well worth the $30.
