One of my favourite Warp albums from that era. Lagoon West is just beautiful, which is not something you can often say about Richard H Kirk. Would love Warp to reissue this and The Number Of Magic but with Kirk passing, that doesn't seem likely.referencing Virtual State (2×LP, Album) WARP LP 19
A fantastic album like this needs a repress. Come on Warp!referencing Virtual State (2×LP, Album) WARP LP 19
Needs a decent reissue. No way i'm paying more than a €100. Get to work Warp crew! ;-)- Edited one year ago

I could hardly give this away 8 years ago, now £100 for a decent copy! Nice album, pleasant music, nothing too exciting, but a good, relaxing vibe throughout - one of Richard's better offerings. - Edited 2 years ago

So good I bought multiple copies on different formats. RIP RHK, always 20 years ahead of the pack. referencing Virtual State (CD, Album, Stereo) WARP CD19
Kirk didn't manage to fully step into the 90's with this album, it is too much stuck in the 80's. And at almost 80 minutes it is far too long, trimming away some of the less focused tracks would have made it a stronger listening experience. The cover art is great though, one of the best sleeves on Warp.referencing Virtual State (2×LP, Album) WARP LP 19
This is a great album. Shame about the cover art.referencing Virtual State (2×LP, Album) WARP LP 19
so good. listening in 2020 makes me wish I had a time machine and could go play a set in the chill out room.referencing Virtual State (CD, Album, Stereo) WARP CD19
Buyers beware for this edition (no SID code) sadly experienced the disc rot destiny.referencing Virtual State (CD, Album, Stereo) WARP CD19
Kirk was the first major figure to join the young #IDM-winning movement under the wing of the #Warp label. He was already known all over the world, as part of the Cabaret Voltaire group, as one of the founders industral, but as soon as something interesting began to emerge in his native Sheffield, he plunged into new experiments. Forming the acid-house project Sweet Exorcist, he published one of the first releases of Warp Records. After a while, all the hang-up of the label was carried away by #ambient_techno, and concentrated on long-running publications, which was not typical for techno music. And, following his colleagues, Richard decides to release his solo album, which later became a classic of electronic music.
