- Why did XL Recordings choose Prodigy over SL2? Heavens know? bUT INNA 2019 I think both groups should have had equal shares in the musical pie?
- Way In My Brain Remix is a sweet as tune, however in my opinion the weakest on here. SLectro is just pure class, this is how HpHop BeBop shouldve sounded you can never unhear this and long for the energy of this Hardcore version. Aftershock is such a Jungle Techno beast, works well in a mix and is just nitty gritty in a class of Anthill Mob´s Black Rushin or Tango stuff etc. As if that wasnt enought there´s Drumbeats: A stone cold classic. One of the strongest 4 trackers of the genre in my opinion
- Edited 6 years agostand out track of this is drumbeats hands down, cracking tune has everything a hardcore tune should have, a must buy for this alone
- Edited 10 years agoThis in my opinion is SL2's best release even better than some of slipmatts solo projects like breaking free/hear me et el on account of drumbeats which contains one of the best piano sections ever created in a hardcore track its in my top 5 along with the Prodigy "Your Love" and 2 Xtreme Xtremity because it captures the essence of raving and the emotional side, Whats also notable is the beats classic amens and sped vocals but its the piano section which makes me shiver not many tracks make me shiver this one does. It was very popular back in the day but still remained an underground classic i cant say the same for SL2's other releases. As for the other tracks there OK nothing special. The remix of way in my brain is not as good as the original but it still sounds OK as does the others but for me "Drumbeats" is in a class of its own.
- Amazing that none of the reviews below have mentioned Drumbeats - a wicked track with crashing amens and a superb piano line, played in many a late 92 set. What's great is that you can get such a good tune for such little money.
- Edited 18 years agoThe remix of Way In My Brain fails to live up to the original which is more of a statement about the greatness of the original more than anything. However, I was looking for something a bit more inspired than a rehash, but SLEctro made up for it without actually pushing the EP into classic material. If you liked Way In My Brain on here, definitely check out the original if you haven't already, it is superior in nearly every way. Slipmatt was doing much greater things under the moniker of SMD by this time anyway.
