Blue Öyster Cult – Cultösaurus Erectus

Not sure why but it didn't really grab my attention initially but I've grown to really enjoy this album. Side 1 kicks. I'm really pleased with this pressing also. Sounds nice. Particularly the mids and bottom end. Playing on a Realistic 420 TT, Pioneer SA-7100 an Klipsch speakers.

The axework in the outro on Devine Wind is sick. I also really dig Deadline - nicely sinister pop track & has a bit of the "reaper' thing going on

Excellent production working overtime for rather mediocre licks, I genuinely love the A side and I think its a rather underrated slice of the bands sound, sadly the rest here isn't much to write home about. Ironic that one of the bands most commercially successful albums was just around the corner after this.

I like Cultosaurus Erectus and never understood the hatred people had for this record. Black Blade, Monsters, Divine Wind, The Marshall Plan, etc. are imo, classic BOC. Hungry Boys and Fallen Angel are pretty bad though. I think Blue Oyster Cult is really one of those bands your either love or you hate. There ain't no middle ground with them.

Underated album release by BOC in my opinion. I guess you either love or hate it. I love it. Produced by Martin Birch (Sabbath, Rainbow, Maiden) and sounds great with nods to drum and guitars). Maybe when it came out people did not like the futuristic sound effects & keyboards and maybe expected a solid rocking record. Rocks steady and touches of proggy elements. But rocks this does. Love the jazz break in Monsters. Nods to Black Blade, Deadline, Lips in the Hills.

Solid LP, do enjoy the zooilogical breakdown on the Cultosaurus Erectus on the back. Mine has the gold foil stamped promo on the back but the label is the standard Columbia red. Would pick up for $12-15 mark again.

I like one song on this release, "Black Blade". Too bad the rest of the album isn't too good. My pressing plays awesome.

Did this really come with a patch? If so, why no documented information anywhere about it?
