Show All 14 Reviews- Edited one month agopicked this up today, it's different from the 2014 pressing but cut from the same files. soundstage separation is great (compared to the 44.1/24 lossless apple music stream) and bass is nice and fast but the overall sound is bright and a bit metallic. it gets fatiguing after a while. not the worst though, the disc itself is also pretty quiet though i can't tell where it was pressed (somewhere in europe for sure).
listening setup: rega p6, ortofon mc cadenza bronze cartridge, stein music 'the perfect interface' carbon mat, liberty b2b-1 preamp, hegel h95 integrated amp, elac debut b5 speakers. - Great pressing, but recent copies not showing Back to Black sticker or download coupon as far as I know.
- The CD I have of this misprint contains the 1992 CD mastering, but checksums from a 1992 CD don't match on account of the tracks being split slightly different.
- Scott 3 is a bit overrated IMO. The run of songs from Butterfly to Winter Night don't do much for me, but I don't deny that the first five and last four tracks are some of his very best work.

Anyone know why Lights replaced 30 Century Man on this pressing? Can't find anything about it- Edited one year agoJust wanted to make a comment on the lyrics of Rosemary which I feel are often misinterpreted and wrong on every google entry I can find. Transcribed as "that travelling salesman Mr Jim" which I think is wrong. That implies a real life lover who is a real travelling salesman with a name. It should be "Mr Gin", her real love, alcohol. It makes sense of the lines that follow and the song as a whole. In fact it changes the whole meaning of the song, as Rosemary is an alcoholic, existing in a dreamy semi-stupor, unable to break free, as her life, hopes and dreams ebb away.
This is my favourite Walker LP and his purest artistic statement, where his song writing bloomed and he made no compromises. This LP was released in 1969, but you really wouldn't know it, it's completely divorced from age and time, a singular masterpiece. - I have a copy of this edition- all the data listed here matches, including the sticker on the jewel case. For some reason the HDCD indicator on my CD player does not recognise the disc as HDCD... Wonder if anyone else has experienced this?
- Excellent pressing ... flat and clean. Deeper bass, better separation of instrumentation and soundstaging, and Scott's voice is much more pronounced than my ripped version (from mid 90s Fontana CD) and the Tidal Master streaming versions. Recommended.
