There is no doubt that the sound of c is the most famous New Beat record worldwide and is definitely a genuine ready made new beat record only intended to be commercial .
At the time, many Belgian clubs made their own records . Hired some producers and put an act on them so that this brought in more audiences in their clubs.
Unfortunately, the arrival of ready-made new beat also meant its rapid demise, because at the same time house and acid entered the Belgian nightlife. and New Beat slipped into some rotten commercial hell and became the even worse Nougat Beat
New Beat was only a name for commerce purposes and found its breeding ground in the music played between 1985-1987 in the famous Antwerp A.B. club .
The music that was played there meant a revelation for many Antwerp dance halls where the DJs had picked up this sound and the advance spread quickly throughout the province. Due to commercial insights from USA import Records , which became the walhalla for all DJ's who where in search for this new exciting sound , which we called A.B. music soon conquered Belgium and parts of northern France
In order to accommodate this trend, sidelined belpop artists and other producers began to focus on mimicking this atmosphere and pouring these influences into this so called new dance music .
Many only so that they could continue to make a living from making music
eagerly using elements from A.B. tracks , completely hijacked tracks like Rock to the beat and Baby wants to ride for example and sold these without any shame as New Beat to the ignorant . ,
originality was not exactly the forte of this manufactured genre .
For example, the Boccaccio anthem Even Now is an indiscriminate copy of The Residents' Diskomo.
The inspiration for the melody used in this Sound of C thing is also not far to seek
.
With the advent of this cheap commercial variant the time had come to die a quick well-deserved death
Anyway, to experience the period before the music changed from AB to New Beat
Being able to experience this unforgettable time in the right place at the right time will always be forever engraved in my memory.
i'm ok with it If you like this sound , but be aware that for the real core this assembled representation of a genre ushered in the end of a great period
Who cares that the umpteenth genre became popular ,commercial .and died this soon
New more exciting times soon followed for Dance in Europe

Just to make it clear because it isn’t with the tracklisting (!!) :
The A version is the regular extended vocal version.
The B1 is the remix version ( the one that starts like Juan Atkins remix).
The B2 version is a dub edit of B1.
And B3 is an accapella with some claps.

I disagree strongly with everyone who states that The Sound of C is no "real" New Beat. For sure it was a huge commercial succes, selling over 50.000 copies (and it put their discotheque, the Confetti's Club, in Belgium's top 3), but for me personally this says nothing about the quality of the song. It has ALL the ingredients for being a genuine and great New Beat song: slow tempo (113 bpm), a hardstopping bassline and good samples. And it was a huge floorfiller at that time!

The sound of C is crap and has nothing to do with the 'real' NEW BEAT wave/vague ('87-'88) in Belgium. The main purpose of the Confetti's was making money (which is not a crime right) NOT making new beat. The faces of the confetti's (Peter, Marleen, Tania, Hilde & Daniella) were decor only, they had nothing to do with the sound they were 'performing'. Let's call them a marketing product. The creative brain behind the music is Serge Ramaekers: an average producer with a brain for bu$ine$$. His best (100% new beat) trax were created under the THE MAXX monicker.

"The Sound Of C" is the first New Beat track that become famous (in Europe).
I still like this slow and heavy beats nowadays.
Thanks to this commercial success, the 11 years old kid that I was, fell in love with New Beat and afterward with electronic music in general.
That is why, commercial stuffs are sometimes more useful than they appear.
Interresting to notice also that all the sounds here were used in The Maxx "Cocaine" (synths and drums) the reason is that Serge Ramaekers and Dominic Sas are behind both projects.
