- Just to make it clear because it isn’t with the tracklisting (!!) :
The A version is the regular extended vocal version.
The B1 is the remix version ( the one that starts like Juan Atkins remix).
The B2 version is a dub edit of B1.
And B3 is an accapella with some claps. referencing The Sound Of C... (12", 45 RPM) USA 1080
The leading synth motif was pilfered from Imperial Brothers – We Come To Rock.- Edited 19 years ago

I disagree strongly with everyone who states that The Sound of C is no "real" New Beat. For sure it was a huge commercial succes, selling over 50.000 copies (and it put their discotheque, the Confetti's Club, in Belgium's top 3), but for me personally this says nothing about the quality of the song. It has ALL the ingredients for being a genuine and great New Beat song: slow tempo (113 bpm), a hardstopping bassline and good samples. And it was a huge floorfiller at that time! - Edited 20 years ago

The sound of C is crap and has nothing to do with the 'real' NEW BEAT wave/vague ('87-'88) in Belgium. The main purpose of the Confetti's was making money (which is not a crime right) NOT making new beat. The faces of the confetti's (Peter, Marleen, Tania, Hilde & Daniella) were decor only, they had nothing to do with the sound they were 'performing'. Let's call them a marketing product. The creative brain behind the music is Serge Ramaekers: an average producer with a brain for bu$ine$$. His best (100% new beat) trax were created under the THE MAXX monicker. - Edited 3 years ago

"The Sound Of C" is the first New Beat track that become famous (in Europe).
I still like this slow and heavy beats nowadays.
Thanks to this commercial success, the 11 years old kid that I was, fell in love with New Beat and afterward with electronic music in general.
That is why, commercial stuffs are sometimes more useful than they appear.
Interresting to notice also that all the sounds here were used in The Maxx "Cocaine" (synths and drums) the reason is that Serge Ramaekers and Dominic Sas are behind both projects.
